Fall Home Tour Week via All Things Home

Are you as excited as me about this week’s Fall Home Tour? In case you didn’t know, a group of us bloggers have formed an interest group called “All Things Home.” From time to time we’ll provide posts specific to a topic that’s near and dear to your home and heart. Not only that, but we also have lots of giveaways to share with you … like this week’s hand-painted $1500 Sarasota Chest from Somerset Bay. Scroll to the very end of this post for details on how to enter to win!

Since our All Things Home group is rather large, not all of us will participate in every single event – but we’ll be sure to give you the best of the best! I’m honored to be participating in this week’s Fall Home Tour showcase with our special giveaway. So without further adieu, step on into my home and see some of my fall decorating!

Fall Decor in the Dining Room

Fall Tablescape via Town and Country LivingLet’s start in the dining room! For me, autumn is about harvest time and cooking up comfort foods from earth’s wondrous bounty.

Fall Home Tour via Town and Country LivingThis time of year I love to set a pretty table and serve meals made from scratch.

Window shutter serves as table runner on fall tablescape via Town and Country LivingWhen I set a table, I always start with the centerpiece. It creates the theme and look for the entire tablescape. An old aqua shutter that’s been lying around the house waiting for a purpose, turned into a table runner for this year’s fall table setting.

Birdcage Cloche filled with Baby Boos via Town and Country LivingA birdcage cloche is added atop the aqua shutter, and stuffed full with my favorite Baby Boos. A few errant gourds complete the centerpiece.

Baby Boos in a Fall Table Setting via Town and Country LivingNow that the centerpiece is complete, the white Baby Boo theme is extended to the rest of the table. Mismatched white dishes cradle a single Baby Boo at each setting. Did you know you can cook and eat these?

Book page placemats at a Fall table setting via Town and Country LivingRustic placemats made from aged book pages are easy to make and can be thrown away when dinner is over.

Book page placemats and white dishes via Town and Country Living's Fall Home TourTo make the placemats, simply rip 6 pages from an old book. Use a glue stick to glue the edges together making two rows of 3 pages each. This will give you a nice sized square.

Fall Home Tour via Town and Country LivingOnce the table is set, the Fall theme can be extended to other areas of the room.

It’s All in the Details

Stacked pumpkins at Town and Country Living's Fall Home TourA white pumpkin precariously perches atop a blue moon pumpkin on the dry sink. It hasn’t fallen over … yet!

Fall Home Tour via Town and Country LivingA few more white pumpkins find their way into the dry sink, along with my new collection of vintage aqua jars that I found at the Country Living Fair in Columbus, Ohio.

They were just $3 each so I couldn’t pass them up.

Fall Home Tour via Town and Country LivingThe dining buffet on the other side of the room also received some trinkets for the Fall Home Tour.

Vintage Book Display at Town and Country Living's Fall Home TourSince I’ve got book page placemats on the table, I added a vintage book display here on the buffet.

Vintage Book Vignette via Town and Country LivingVintage lace, a Baby Boo, and a paper fan from my DIY paper fan garland strung across the mirror in the background complete the vignette.

White ironstone tureen filled with wine corks via Town and Country LivingAlso on the buffet is a vintage soup tureen filled with wine corks.  Acquaviva Winery is just 5 miles from our house, and Autumn is when the grapes get harvested for new batches of wine. You wouldn’t think Illinois produces award-winning wine, but it does!

Fall Home Tour at Town and Country LivingEnough of the dining room … we need to move onto other rooms for the Fall Home Tour.

Simple Fall Decor in the Family Room

Fall Home Tour - the Family Room via Town and Country LivingSimplicity rules in the family room no matter what the season.

Fall Home Tour via Town and Country LivingWe spend most of our time in this room so it’s important to keep it clutter-free. I don’t like to see messes when I’m trying to relax. I get that quirkiness from my mother.

Apples as Fall decor via Town and Country LivingA bowl of apples picked from the local orchard grace the painted vintage blanket chest.

Gala apples in a wooden bowl via Town and Country LivingWe took my children and their families to the apple orchard down the road for an afternoon outing. We picked both Gala apples and Golden Delicious.  These smell heavenly when you’re sitting nearby.

Box of autumn gourds via Town and Country LivingOn the end table I’ve piled gourds into an open box.

Decorative fall gourds at the Fall Home Tour via Town and Country LivingThis is actually a cigar box decoupaged with book pages and scrapbook paper. You can buy the empty cigar boxes at a local beverage store for just $1.50 each. I have several on hand for various occasions.

Fall Home Tour via Town and Country LivingWooden stars hang in the windows and little Baby Boos are placed here and there. Shall we move on for more of my Fall Home Tour?

Fall Decorating in the Kitchen Nook

Natural Fall Table Setting via Town and Country LivingSurprise, surprise! Baby Boos make an appearance in the kitchen nook.

Baby Boos on a French bread board via Town and Country LivingI lined the Baby Boos up on a French bread board and added some acorns from the forest preserve.

Natural Fall table setting via Town and Country LivingAn advantage of living near the country is the access you have to local farms. Just down the road I found a farmer selling Baby Boos and gourds for just 50 cents each. The pumpkins ranged from $2 to $3 … much cheaper than the grocery store!

Football mums and Baby Boos for a natural Fall table setting via Town and Country LivingRemember Football Mums? I hadn’t seen these since I was a kid so when I found them at the store I scooped up 2 big bunches at $4 each.

Bouquet of football mums in a blue mason jar via Town and Country LivingI just love these beauties and hope I can find some more!  You can see more photos of my kitchen nook decorated for fall.

Fall Inspired Bubble Bath

Candlelit bubble bath via Town and Country Living's Fall Home TourThe last room on my Fall Home Tour is the bathroom.

Claw foot tub decorated for Fall via Town and Country LivingI can’t think of a better season for a lingering bubble bath. For me, autumn is marathon season which means lots of miles being run! This year I’m running the Naperville Marathon in November and a luxurious, candlelit bubble bath is a great way to pamper myself.
