Fall Mantel with Mushrooms and Owls

When it comes to fall decorating, I always seem to gravitate around a theme and this year is no different. I fell in love with these wooden mushrooms at a local boutique but told myself I didn’t need them. About a week later I realized my error and decided I did indeed need them for my fall mantel!

I mean – look how well they pair with my vintage brown bottles! Plus I didn’t want a pumpkin-themed decorating scheme. I prefer fall decor that can last beyond Halloween until the Christmas decorations come out. Last year I chose a burgundy fall decorating theme.

Amber bottles. Wooden mushrooms. It all feels so earthy and good to me.

A couple of ceramic owls seem to fit right in with the organic vibe of my fall mantel.

And now I’m craving mushroom ragout with polenta. I’ll have to make some and share the recipe. Mushrooms satisfy my craving for beef since I don’t eat meat. Technically I’m a pescetarian because I do eat fish, but most people don’t know what that means.

The mushrooms on my fall mantel feature intricate details and I’m so enamored with them that I’ll probably use them in my Christmas decor, too.

You know, at first I fell in love with old aqua bottles. But ever since I started my vintage brown bottle collection, I rarely display the aqua ones. I also have a set of deep purple bottles.

My fall mantel is ready to go and this is just a preview of next week’s fall home tour where you’ll find more earthy goodness in my home. In case you missed it, you might want to check out the free mushroom prints I shared on Monday.

Vintage Black Mantel Decorated for Fall

I’m moving onto the dining room next since I’m sharing a fall tablescape on Tuesday. I still need to address the kitchen – I’m struggling with that room because I want to change the color but haven’t made a decision yet.

  1. I always love your nature-inspired items and the mushroom/owl with brown bottle decor is, again, just perfect. Can’t wait to see what color you choose for your kitchen. I always am amazed at the fact that your choices are so much the same as I would choose. Just yesterday, since my outdoor plantings are looking sad and won’t be around much longer, I went indoor plant shopping. I purchased 3 very healthy pots (2 large, 1 small) of greenery in an attempt to begin bringing life from the outside to the inside and hope to add more as fall and winter closes in. Your use of plants is always amazing and has inspired me.

  2. Really cute mantle! Shouldn’t be hard to carry forth an earthy vibe into your sweet kitchen with that awesome organic tile floor 😇

  3. You always pick something so different but lovely and i love your mushrooms they are so nice. I get tired of pumpkins and rather do more fall things, there’s so much more to fall than pumpkins. Thanks for the idea.

  4. Thank you for sharing your ideas for fall decor. Pumpkins can be overdone so owls and mushrooms will last throughout the season and are a good change! Thanks for inspiring us on the blog hop with your ideas.

  5. Love these owls and mushrooms, Jennifer! And the amber bottles look so pretty with them. I have some pescatarian friends and many vegan friends!
