My Favorite Christmas Vignettes

Christmas is just one week away! Although I’ve been busy decorating and shopping, I never forget the true meaning of Christmas and the celebration of Christ’s birth … God’s greatest gift to the world! I like to think the creative expression of decorating is a reflection of God’s creative nature. After all, if we’re made in God’s image and God is creative, it follows that each one of us is creative in some way, shape or form. In celebration of that creativity, I’m sharing some of my favorite Christmas vignettes with you .

DIY Home Decor at Christmas. An ironstone bowl filled with vintage Christmas ornaments. This ironstone bowl filled with vintage Christmas ornaments is one of my favorite photos from this year’s Christmas home tour. I’ve been collecting these ornaments for years. My flocked Christmas tree is in the background with the lights twinkling brightly.

Christmas Garland of Mercury Glass OrnamentsMy favorite Christmas find this year was a strand of mercury glass ornaments.

I’m not going to want to put these back in a box once Christmas is over.

DIY Home Decor for Christmas. A Pine Cone Garland frosted with epsom salt.Another garland I love is my DIY pine cone garland. I gave this one to my daughter.

DIY Home Decor for Christmas. Paper Clay figurines paired with glittery ornaments. If you read my blog regularly you already know I love these paper clay figurines.

I love their touches of sparkle. For me, Christmas is all about the magic and sparkle!

DIY Home Decor for Christmas. Glitter houses and bottle brush trees create a festive mantel.I love glitter houses too! On my holiday mantel I pair them with glittery garland and bottle brush trees.

DIY Christmas Decor. Snowy bottle brush scene in a cigar box.Earlier this month I transformed a plain cigar box into this snowy Christmas scene.

A collection of bottle brush trees creates a miniature winter wonderland!

DIY Home Decor. A trio of boxwood wreaths adorns a built-in cupboard in an old farmhouse.A few years ago I created this trio of boxwood wreaths for the built-in cupboard in my farmhouse kitchen.

I included the tutorial so you can make some of your own!

DIY Christmas Vignette. Create a festive mood by stringing red glass beads on open kitchen shelving. Also in the kitchen, a simple glass bead garland festoons the open shelving with ironstone pitchers and just a bit of greenery. A few vintage ornaments and a mini Christmas tree tucked in a bowl complete the Christmas vignette.

DIY Christmas Vignette. A simple wooden bowl filled with vintage glass ornaments.More vintage ornaments! Here I paired green, blue, and silver ornaments in a wooden bowl.

This easy vignette is from last year’s Christmas home tour.

Vintage black mirror with boxwood wreath. Simple Christmas decor and a collection of holiday vignettes.Coincidentally, this vintage black mirror was found at a Christmas market last year. I hung a little boxwood wreath on it with peppermint stripe ribbon. The mirror reflects the mason jar candles lining the steps in my old farmhouse.

DIY Home Decor. Christmas bowl filled with vintage glass ornaments.Last year I bought this set of red and white nesting bowls to use for Christmas decorating.

I filled them with my pink, white, and silver vintage ornaments.

Hope you were able to find some last-minute inspiration from my favorite Christmas vignettes!

  1. Jennifer – I love your flipboard mag, but you included one of my images that was posted on G+ by someone else (as their own work). It is the red and white Christmas porch. I would appreciate it if you could change the source to me. Thanks!

  4. Your vignettes are just beautiful, Jennifer! I had forgotten that I had some vintage pink ornaments in the attic that I had in my booth last year that didn’t sell. I meant to use them this year, but at this point I will just pass on them until next year. I think just even using them in a wood tote or tureen would be a nice simple touch.

  5. Hi Jennifer. I love your Christmas vignettes. I have a vintage frame similar to your black mirror that I got from my grandmother. I made it into a chalkboard. Love your style!
