Favorite Seasonal Recipes from the English Countryside: Orchard Cookbook Giveaway

Hi friends! It’s time for another book giveaway! I love featuring new books here on the blog and it’s always fun for me to give a free copy to a lucky reader. Today’s book is Orchard which is all about sweet and savoury recipes from the English countryside by James Rich – and I’m giving away three books instead of one! All you need to do to enter for a chance to win is to leave a comment at the end of this post. (This post contains affiliate links – see my privacy policy.)

Orchard book - sweet and savoury recipes from the countryside

James Rich grew up in Somerset and later moved to the city as an adult. He missed his roots and moved back to the southwest region which is populated with orchards. His first book is Apple and now his second book, Orchard, focuses on recipes he’s created from his own orchard and kitchen garden.

The cookbook isn’t solely dedicated to apple recipes, however. You’ll find recipes for feasts, light bites, sides and sauces, and sweets and drinks.

Here’s a sampling of some of the recipes you’ll find in Orchard. Pear and Ginger Beef Burgers with Pear Slaw – I can’t wait to make this but with Beyond burger meat since I’m vegetarian.

Or how about Sausage, Bean, and Cider Stew? I can enjoy this one too with plant-based faux sausage. It looks so yummy for a fall or winter day.

Use the popular spring vegetable of asparagus to make a tasty pizza.

Chicken lovers will enjoy Chicken and Cherry Traybake. You can use fresh or frozen cherries.

This dish is definitely on my “recipes to try” list. It’s Mushroom, Kale, and Wild Garlic Bread and Butter Pudding. Yum!

In summer, use fresh strawberries from the farm market to whip up Strawberry and Clotted Cream Custard Tart. I LOVE anything with custard or pudding, like flan, crème brûlée, or anything like that. You could probably make this with any type of berry.

In addition to recipes, James also shares tips for foraging, creating a kitchen garden, and more. The book includes photos of the Somerset orchard and countryside. You’ll even get to see his beautiful cat.

You could have a copy before Thanksgiving and the holidays! I’ll announce the winners next Monday. But if you can’t wait to find out if you win, or you want to give Orchard as a gift, you can purchase it on Amazon.
