A Fireplace for a Beautiful Living Room

Just because warm weather is here for a few months doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a fireplace. When evenings are cooler, or when you’re lodging at a cabin for summer vacation, it’s still fun to light a fire in a living room fireplace.

A brick fireplace is a classic feature in this traditional room with its ornate chandelier. Large pictures and blue and white ginger jars complete the look. My grandmother collected ginger jars and always remind me of her.

An unfinished wood beam ceiling pairs beautifully with a stone fireplace and dark wood floors. A blue patterned rug lends a touch of color to the living room with its wall of windows.

A simple wooden flag adds patriotic decor to this bright and spacious room with floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace. Lots of windows let in plenty of natural light, too.

Green branches adorn a white country style living room with a fire burning brightly. Textures like a woven pendant light and tobacco basket add texture for interest.

This cozy living room reminds me of a rustic cabin you’d rent for summer vacation. I love its pretty rusticity.

I love the warmth of this room – from the rich wood of the vaulted ceiling to the painted plank walls and rustic stone fireplace.

  1. I love fireplaces , whether used or not they still give that warm feeling to a room. Stone is my favorite, thanks these were nice examples of coziness.

  2. I love the stone and brick fireplaces they are so cozy and this is a nice change from these new and modern, all tile, marble sleek fireplaces. Also a fireplace just isn’t the same without a mantle to decorate. I have a fireplace in my condo but is basically like a box with a big window behind it. I find this to be hard to decorate since it’s about 2 feet in depth and the window behind.

  3. I grew-up with a fireplace…I love them. Kim Lennie, I would buy a large piece of art to put in front of that window, you need to enjoy your fireplace.

  4. The first room just looks so comfortable. I want to sink into one of those chairs and read. It’s winter here in Australia, a bit breezy and a chilly 20 degrees so the perfect post for me.

  5. Concerning fireplaces, my husband and I have a disagreement over proper dimensions for the barn beam mantel on our floor to ceiling 5 foot 6 inch wide brick fireplace. How far should the beam jut out into the room? Should it be cut 5 foot 6 or back several inches from the edges? We are at an impasse.

  6. I absolutely love a stone fireplace. Especially with some wood paneling or shiplap. Those are some great examples.
