Flirtatious Front Doors

Do you have a flirtatious front door? Does it entice passers-by to “come hither” for a visit? Or, is it more like mine and gives a cold shoulder? This will be changing soon when we paint our home’s exterior this summer, but for now, have a look at some flirtatious front doors in the ‘hood.

Love the contrast of the red lantern by the green door.
A beautiful transom crowning an old red door.
Pretty pansies, pussywillows, and Asian-inspired lanterns flank this wooden door.
A purple door doesn’t need further adornment. Even the wooden steps are purple. {LOVE}
Another red door with a darling little roof. Simple yet charming.
Blue door, white house, classic urns. It doesn’t get more traditional than this.
Another historic stone house with a beautiful door and mailbox.
And those stone pumpkins!  I think this one is my favorite.
A classic bungalow sports a unique door with classic hardware. Do you see the little old doorbell?
528 is the house number of my childhood home so I’m a little partial to this one.
I love this! From the disheveled house numbers to the energy-efficient bulbs in the rustic lanterns.
You can see straight through the house to the backyard. Where would you find a replacement door?
Another arched door with architectural detailing on the frame.
A charming blue mailbox keeps watch as visitors come up the walk. I want it!
Wooden ceiling, wooden floor, cute porch trim, and a darling house number.
Neat and tidy now, but I can see flowers spilling riotously out of pots on the steps this summer.
A classic blue door with a little bunny greeting guests.
I wonder why the sidelight on the left is divided while the one on the right is not.
Which door do you like best?

  1. Colorful front doors are kind of like lipstick for the house. I’ll take that one step further and add that shutters are the eyelashes and window boxes are the eye liner. I just got back from three weeks in Argentina and took lots of photos of their interesting doors. I’ll do a blog on them soon.

  2. These were great .. ours isn’t much to look at, but like you, that will change soon. I’m thinking of a pumpkin color…(but I change my mind almost every day)

  3. My front door is boring white. Nothing special about it, but I’m hoping this spring I can change it to at least entice me to love it!

    1. What is the name of the purple paint in this pin the door has the house number 503 also who makes it & where can I buy it

  4. Great doors! I love that old arched one the best. Hope you find a perfect one you like.
Thanks so much for your visit to my blog – hanging the light wasn’t too hard. Good luck if you do decide to try it!

  5. I don’t know what it is about front doors, but I could look at dozens of these images and never get tired. Maybe b/c I’m so curious about the inside. Every one of those doors tells a story. Lovely post!

  6. What is it about front doors? I could look at them all day long. Such a great introduction to what you might find whern you open the door. Like a first impression. Thanks for sharing.

  7. These doors are so cute. I have a bright red front door that I love but it is somewhat covered by a storm door. The storm door is needed here in upstate NY. I have been thinking of painting the storm door the same color as the door to make it pop a little more. Now after seeing these pictures where some of the storm doors are painted the same color I have just come up with a project. Now I need to try to find the paint color I used.

  8. I love to look at doors and you certainly have a lot of fun doors in your area. Ours is a red Dutch door and when the top is open it means “please drop in”. I can’t say that I love the purple one though!

  9. I am completely and totally smitten with the door with the curved top. Now if it had the stone pumpkins out front it would truly be a match made in heaven!! (I think I am going to have to look for some sort of decorative stone accents for our front stoop now…. to go with our old flaking cement planter that we rescued for a house which was to be demolished!)
