Free Summer Printable ~ Gone Fishin’

Yesterday was the first day of summer and for some people, summer means going fishing! When I was a kid my grandpa took me to Lake Shabbona to fish with a bamboo pole. So in honor of PawPaw, I made a “Gone Fishin'” free summer printable that you can download at the end of the post.

The fish print is in neutral colors so it can go with any decor.

Free Summer Printable - Gone FishinI added a few coastal items to create a summery fishing vignette. PawPaw and I mostly caught Blue Gills at Lake Shabbona. I still can’t believe I used to put my own worm on the hook. I guess he taught me well.

Coastal Style Vignette Wooden fish and a starfish join a fishing buoy in front of old books in colors of the sea … blue and green.

Coastal Style Vignette I love the shades of blue and green that conjure images of the sea.

Coastal Style Vignette The wooden fish garland is a new acquisition. They join another wooden starfish and vintage books in a color reminiscent of sand.

Gone Fishin Free Summer PrintableEven if you don’t like to fish, you can still enjoy my free summer printable. I found the fish graphic at The Graphics Fairy and then simply added a background along with the text, Gone Fishin’ – Be Back at Dark Thirty.

Gone Fishin'My grandkids went fishing with their dad on Father’s Day and this is a photo he took.

My daughter had to work during the day but joined them later in the afternoon for other activities.

  1. Cute printable Jennifer! My son loves the fishing aspect of summer too! We go to a friend’s farm/garden that has 1 little ponds and he grabs the branch fishing pole, some worms, and catches blue gills like crazy! The record is 39 in 5 minutes haha! Last time I told him catch and release because those blue gill have hardly any meat on them… basically unless a big bass bites, he has to throw it back now. But it sure is fun for kids! Such fun memories this printable evokes!

  6. Such a cute summer sign and vignette and such a sweet way to honor your PawPaw. It made me smile and remember us cousins fishing on our PopPop’s dock whenever we gathered there. Didn’t do much swimming though ‘cause PopPop had a little “pet gator” that he fed everyday!
