Fresh as Spring Atlanta Home with Pale Colors

Every Sunday when I choose a home to feature, I wonder if you will like it. I try to showcase a variety of styles to appeal to a wider audience. But I feel like each home has a piece of my heart. There’s something artistic or personal that speaks to me. Today’s Atlanta home by Leah Atkins Design calls to my love of pastel colors at springtime. Take a look and see what you think!

The foyer above features a beautiful curved staircase and hardwood floors. A table cozies up beneath the stairs and in the background you can see the impressive windows of the living room.

A series of pale blue, arched French doors lines one wall of the living room with its coffered ceiling and white stone fireplace. Blue and white buffalo checks add casual appeal to the matching sofas while a ticking fabric adorns a pair of arm chairs. Beautiful pink blooms call attention on the coffee table while echoing the color of the nearby ottomans.

The salmon-color of the ottomans from the living room finds its way into the dining room via upholstered end chairs. A sea of topiaries brings fresh springtime appeal to the table. Overhead, lavender shades top each light of the chandelier as opposed to the expected white. It lends a whimsical touch.

The breakfast nook is graced with a large bay window and color-block drapes. The hutch and tabletop feature prized porcelain dinnerware.

Remember the lavender shades on the dining room chandelier? The same color is used here on the sitting room chairs. The aqua-beaded chandelier mimics a bit of the blue in the wallpaper. I like when a designer uses cohesive colors or architecture to unite rooms throughout a house.

This view of the sitting room shows the detail of the fireplace and surrounding trim. The floral wallpaper gives the space a lighthearted vibe that feels like spring.

Heading upstairs to the bedrooms you’ll find one in neutral tones with a vaulted ceiling and bay window.

A second bedroom in today’s Atlanta home wears accents of blue and green. I like the green-leaf trim on the pillow cases. I’d probably never find anything similar but that doesn’t mean I can’t create them. It’s fun making pillowcases and it’s fairly easy to do.

Visit the lower level of this southern home and you’ll find a cozy family room. Remember the blue buffalo checks in the living room? That theme gets carried into this space with red buffalo-checked chairs. Toile red and cream curtains frame the French doors. A vintage steamer trunk makes an efficient and unique coffee table.

Of course, no southern home would be complete without an expansive porch with wicker furniture for lounging and sipping lemonade or iced tea.

  1. Not my favorite. I’m sure it makes more sense in person. But, there’s that ode to the antique green color on the vent hood! 😉

  2. The living room was such a pretty combination of blues and then that pop of coral on the ottomans and dining room. I also liked that wallpaper in another room, too much so just saying I really enjoyed this home.

  3. Buffalo check upholstery or drapes have always been a favorite, and looks nice with toile fabric. Most of this house is not to my taste, but it is very elegant and well designed.

  4. I guess I have to agree with another comment that this isn’t my favorite. Each room was lovely, but I felt each room came from a different house. I know you mentioned cohesive colors. I felt very little continuity when looking from room to room. In the first picture all I saw was the aqua moldings. Then an olive green range hood in kitchen…brown in the dining room…lavender in a sitting room…OH MY. Just TOO much going on!

  5. Wow! I love this house with such pretty colours throughout and those blue windows are such a great feature. Thank you Jennifer for showing.

  6. Well I am smitten with the sage green stove hood and that southern porch..oh my! I always learn a bit of something from every home you post Jennifer. All homes aren’t alike nor are the people who live in them so therefore I learned that beautiful houses come in all colors, shapes and sizes. The home fits the lives of the ones who live there. Colorful arched windows vs all white trim..hey it works! So beautiful. This house has character in spades..or is that folds? Loved it…so much inspiration here.

    1. So glad you enjoyed the home tour, Lori. I agree with you – homes and people aren’t all alike. Even though I might not decorate my own home in someone else’s style, I always enjoy the artistic touches that personalize it.
