Friday Finds #14: Saying Goodbye to Summer

friday finds September 4, 2020

Welcome to Friday Finds! I’ve got good stuff to share with you as we head into apple-picking season. September is a beautiful month and I hope to enjoy every minute of it. I’ll spend as much time outside as I can!

Juicy Red Apple with Cinnamon Sticks

Speaking of being outside, today I’m on my way to the Smoky Mountains with my daughter and granddaughter. We’re staying at an Airbnb in Maryville so we can divide our time between the mountains and the city of Knoxville. I’ve never been to Knoxville so it’ll be fun to explore. I’m sure I’ll snap some pics of pretty homes!

Do you have any Labor Day weekend plans? I hope you’ll get a little rest and relaxation! It’s nice to have an extended weekend for slowing down and enjoying the simple things in life. Sometimes it’s great not to have any plans at all in order to catch up on some reading or do a little baking or cooking!

And now, here’s my Friday Finds …

I stumbled across a fun article on Apartment Therapy that lists the weirdest things about old homes. I can totally relate!

Here’s a kitchen renovation that’s sure to impress you. I found it at Architectural Digest, so you know it’s gonna be good.

If you do end up baking this weekend, here’s an amazing Italian Cream Cake recipe with a twist of pumpkin from my friend Janine who blogs at Happy Happy Nester. I am definitely making this cake!!

For those of you who love Tudor homes, you’ll absolutely swoon over this charming home tour by Heidi Caillier. Super gorgeous!

If you’re feeling creative, you might enjoy this tutorial of mine about making a fall faux flower arrangement. You can use whatever flowers you want and just follow the steps.

Here’s to enjoying your Labor Day weekend – stay safe out there!!

Enjoy your time in the mountains! I am originally from NC and we would vacation a lot in the smoky mountains, mostly camping. Still remember when the trees would turn vibrant reds and oranges! Knoxville should be interesting, would like to hear about that in a post –

    Hi Jennifer,

Happy Labor Day Weekend! Enjoy you time with your daughter and granddaughter!

Thanks so much for the wonderful feature! You’re so sweet to mention my Italian Cream Cake recipe! It’s such a great cake! I originally made it for the Pottery Barn blog.

Have a great and safe trip to the Mountains! We live in Smyrna, Tennessee, which is about 2.5 hours West of Knoxville. I have been to Knoxville a few times, and my niece graduated from UT. I’m not sure what there is to do there, but I am sure you will scout it out. There is always Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. I look forward to hearing all about it.

I bet we passed you on the road. We were in Townsend and spent lots of time in the picnic area near Cade’s Cove. We rented a cabin in Townsend which we do several times a year. Very peaceful and beautiful. Hope you enjoyed your visit to Tennessee and come back again!
