Friday Finds #29: Christmas in Galena

The family has packed their bags to spend an extended weekend in Galena, Illinois for the holidays. We’ve all quarantined and hubby and I got rapid tests for the virus before leaving just to be on the safe side.

This is the second year we’ve held our family Christmas in Galena. Since my kids are all married with families of their own, we celebrate our holiday prior to the 25th. That way, they can spend Christmas Day with the other side of their family. It just works better this way without the stress and hassle of deciding how to split Christmas Day between families.

Unfortunately, this family holiday is a little bittersweet because my oldest daughter and her entire family tested positive for the virus a week prior to our trip. So they have to quarantine until Christmas Eve. We plan to celebrate with them on New Years if all goes well.

So that’s what’s going on with my week – what are your holiday plans this year?

And now for a little inspiration, here’s this week’s Friday Finds!

Check out this amazing RV camper renovation by Aniko at Place of My Taste. They sold their house and are touring the U.S. in it.

I stumbled across this gorgeous holiday bedroom created by Sarah who blogs at Grace in My Space.

See how to make paper stars for Christmas using Kraft paper lunch bags. I think I’m going to try this with the family during our time at Galena.

Have you noticed there’s a trend toward Scandinavian Christmas decorations? Here are 12 Scandinavian trees you don’t want to miss!

Lastly (but certainly not least) is an amazing holiday home tour with a European vibe by Deb at Seeking Lavender Lane. Be sure to check out part one and part two.

I appreciated you coming by and leaving a note!

  2. There are 3 people in my household. We will be staying at home . We are doing that to protect ourselves and the people we love. We know that a test today does not mean you are virus free and spreading the virus the next day. We hope that following scientific advice means that we live to see future holidays to celebrate safely with family and friends.
