Friday Finds #59: A Touch of the Sun

Exciting things are happening here at the Zuri household this week. We had patio pavers installed just outside our back door that leads to the pond. Bye bye weeds that I could never get rid of! The sun is working its magic in the flower garden and our sunflowers are now in bloom. Summer is such a glorious time. I just cut a big bouquet of zinnias for my daughter and I still have tons left in the garden.

This weekend is going to be much cooler than last weekend so I’m excited to get back out in the yard to do a little tweaking. You know, I have friends who never plant flowers outside and I just don’t get it. But I guess we’re all created different and if you’re not into gardening, you’re just not into it. I’m glad I have a passion for being outdoors and adding color to the landscape with flower beds.

I found lots of interesting stuff this week but some of it needs to wait until next Friday. But for now, here’s some inspiration I think you’ll enjoy.

This Week’s Friday Finds:

Are there any dahlia lovers in the house? If you’re not a fan of these lovely blooms, you will be after reading about Erin’s dahlia fields. I only have one dahlia in my flower garden, but now I’m going to plant more. They’re so beautiful.

Middle of summer is the perfect time to enjoy a little coastal decor and Scout and Nimble shared a couple of absolutely charming coastal cottages. I’m partial to the one designed by S.R. Gambrel. I keep going back and looking at it!

There’s still plenty of time to spruce up the outside of your house before winter makes its appearance. Check out these curb appeal ideas from Mobile, Alabama. You’ll find exterior paint colors, front doors, porch furniture, and more that you can copy at your own home.

If you enjoy stories about interesting people, you might like reading about antiques dealer, Sharon Mrozinski who owns The Marston House in Maine with her husband Paul. She grew up in the desert and he grew up in a Chicago Polish ghetto. They now spend half their life in France and the other half in the U.S.

We’ll end this week’s find with ideas for creating an English country bedroom. These easy tips will appeal to Downton Abbey fans, for sure!

Enjoy the last weekend of July as we head into August, which for me, means harvest time! Lots of tomatoes are ripening on the vine in the veggie garden. I’ll soon be canning them.

  1. I know what you mean about your tomatoes, I have had a few but they look like they are all going to turn at the same time. It is terribly hot here so a great time to see what you had today, thank you and have a canning good time.
