Friday Finds #7: Simple Pleasures

In two weeks my family and I will be vacationing in Michigan. We weren’t sure we’d be able to take the trip due to the pandemic, but there aren’t travel restrictions in our area so we’re good to go. We need the break from the chaos, but in the meantime I’ve been enjoying the simple pleasures of “vacationing” by my pond in the backyard.

So how are you and your families doing? I hope you’re safe and healthy. And I hope you’re able to find ways to relax, unwind, and enjoy some of each say’s simple pleasures.

Life doesn’t look to be going back to “normal” any time soon and I know some people are afraid and maybe even angry over the circumstances. For me, it’s been a time to reconnect on a deeper level with nature. I spend most of my spare time outdoors now.

And so I look forward to vacationing with my family near the beach on Lake Michigan. We’re renting this Airbnb house and will probably make many of our meals in the kitchen with the fancy French range. The beach is just a walk down the street, which the kids will love.

Until then, I’ve been finding beauty and inspiration online. It’s therapeutic.

Here’s a few of my favorite finds from this past week …

In a restful nod to the great outdoors, I found these beautiful outdoor beds that are perfect for napping or reading.

I stumbled across this breakfast nook makeover reveal at Pinterest and found it belongs to a fellow blogger at Place of My Taste.

And speaking of makeovers, here’s a few kitchen makeovers that I think you’ll enjoy.

If you’re looking for a refreshing summer drink, try this recipe for blackberry margarita punch.

For something a little different, you can take a virtual online tour of Pharoah Ramesses VI tomb. It’s pretty cool and I can’t imagine how long it took to draw all the hieroglyphics.

And finally, enjoy a slideshow of houses with great curb appeal from across the country! I found lots of them to pin.

  1. It’s so difficult to read your blog. The print is too light. My eyes are too old, I suppose.

  4. I’m gonna be making that Red Cabbage Slaw TONIGHT! My husband has lost over 40 lbs on a very strict KETO diet. He has LOVED it because he can eat all the meat he wants and he has regained use of his knees because of loss of inflammation in his body. He was facing knee surgery last year. Amazing, huh? He eats only very low carb veggies like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage so I will saute the cabbage for him and make the slaw for me. YUM!

    1. Wow Deb! That’s quite a testimony for the KETO diet – especially the part about regaining use of his knees. That’s just amazing! Your hubby must be so happy!
