Full Length Mirror for the Bedroom

For the longest time I’ve been looking for a full length mirror to put in the bedroom. I either see a gorgeous mirror with a price tag I don’t like, or I see the right price but the mirror is just so-so. I didn’t want to settle. I didn’t have to.

I found the oval mirror at a yard sale for just $1. It didn’t have a frame, but I grabbed it anyway.
My first thought was to get some plywood or an old door and wood appliques.
But then I remembered I had this old barn door in my bedroom.
How could I forget that I had this? I spent a couple weeks looking for an old door.
Chalk it up to a blonde moment, I guess.
I was kind of tired of this door in its current state, but I didn’t want to get rid of it.
The backside looked like this.
I knew all it would take is a little Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.
And then I could just hang the mirror onto the door.
Or rather … hubby could hang it.
And here it is now. Quick and simple.
A $1 mirror. An old door I already had. And leftover paint.
Reuse and Recycle. That’s my motto!
And some baby’s breath stuck in a mason jar that wears an old sugar sack.
Just Because. Hope you have a great week!

  1. Just perfect! I swear, mirrors are the single most overpriced item out there! I can’t buy an expensive mirror if my life depended on it! It’s just not in my genes, I guess. I only buy at goodwill or yard sales. I’m so happy you found the perfect mirror and the perfect ” frame.”

  2. Love your new/old mirror. I have an old chevel mirror that I hate, but hate to part with. I am thinking of painting it and hanging it on the wall as to be less in the way. I now am on the look out for a neat old door to attach it to. Also love your sugar sack mason jar vase, need to do that one.

  3. That oval mirror is a beaut and with that door, it’s even better; what a great idea. I am also really loving the blue on the chair and the wall! It’s so soft and relaxing looking.

  4. Beautiful mirror and way to go with finding such a deal and making really good use of it. I found you via Hometalk. By the way… I am a mirror freak. My tiny cottage house has such a dreary, dark living room (front room). One of the previous owner’s took out the living room windows (window freak too) and put in a fireplace, so it is just dismal. Thanks for the lovely idea.

  5. Perfect marriage. The two together make the perfect mirror for your bedroom. Well done Jennifer.
    Thanks for always inspiring.
