Having Fun Decorating with Polka Dots

You know what’s fun? Polka dots are fun! They’re happy and cheery and when you see them, they make you smile. Lately I’ve been drawn to polka dots in home decor and decided to do a little search on ideas for decorating with polka dots.

I’m seeing gold polka dots all over the place these days.

Have fun painting them diagonally across a section of the wall.

The polka dots in this young girl’s bedroom mimic the paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

This is such a sweet yet fun setting with its oversized pink and zebra-stripe dots.

Polka dots can be used in an elegant setting too.

The polka dot dining chairs are a subtle contrast to the patterned wallpaper.

If an entire wall of polka dots is too much for you, why not add them to a smaller surface area like a table? I love these sweet little white dots on a pink painted table top.

Polka dot fabric is a great way to add a touch of fun to any room. Now I’m thinking I might just make some polka dot pillows for the sectional in my family room.

Artwork is another easy idea for decorating with polka dots.

This would be pretty easy to recreate and it looks like fun to paint.

I just adore this girl’s bedroom. The polka dot bedding adds whimsy to a room filled with charming details like the white iron beds, the rough hewn wood floors, and the board and batten walls.

Well, I never would’ve thought to add polka dots to a bathroom like this but it works!

There’s a lot of pattern in here between the floor, the lower half of the wall, and the polka dots. The soft color palette keeps it all from being overwhelming.

In this bathroom, the polka dots are the only pattern and are reserved for the floor length curtains.

How wonderful would it be to soak in that tub next to the fire?

Sometimes all you need is just a sprinkling of polka dots. In this case, a small reading chair provides just a touch of fun dots in blue and white.

I’ve always loved pink and brown together and this fun bedspread pairs the colors beautifully with plenty of fun dots.  Even the floor has polka dot rugs scattered about.

How about polka dots in the yard? I think this concept could be really fun in the right space.

And no one else would have a yard like yours!

  1. Love those dots. In fact, I just bought 200 2″ gold peel & stick dots to use in our master bedroom. Thinking about using them on a dark navy wall!

    Thanks for the fun article!

  2. Thanks for the creative ideas. I would love the polka dot landscape, but not enjoy them on my walls. If I had that bathroom with the fireplace, I would not mind the polka dot drapes … beautiful.
