If this cabinet had solid wood doors, it would appear top heavy in this space. Glass front cabinets create a lighter feel. This one provided the opportunity to display favorite artisan dishes.

Have you noticed that dark colors are trending in home decor? To keep an expansive, dark cabinet from overpowering a room, the use of glass front doors help reflect the light from the nearby window – and also mimic the window’s design creating a cohesive look.

I love the use of glass doors on both sides of the cabinetry placed in front of a large window. The homeowner gets additional storage space without blocking the view or light from outside. Such a clever design.

You may be thinking that the inside of your cabinets are too messy for glass doors. Add a curtain to two-thirds of the door to keep clutter concealed, and keep the top shelf neat and tidy.

A gorgeous aqua blue cabinet against a brick wall makes me want to start canning again. What a beautiful, organic sight that shows off all that hard work. I want this in my home!

You can also use glass door cabinets to frame your windows. The glass doors give the illusion of an expansive window and allows the eye to flow better through the room.

You can easily swap out solid wood cabinet doors with glass ones to achieve this popular look. It’s less expensive than replacing all of your cabinetry, which is an added benefit!

  1. The glass doors are very pretty, I like them. In many days gone by the glass doors were used often. They seem to give the illusion of more space. I especially like the one over the windows.

  2. I have a few glass doors in my cabinets, have always loved the open and clean look they give.. I loved the cabinet with all those canned goods in it.

  3. Yummy post. Thanks. My favorite is the two-thirds curtain behind the glass and the exposed brick in that kitchen…nice..

  4. These are wonderful, I can’t pick just one, but I have to say the photo of the cabinets exposing the outside is phenomenal architecture. How unique with the backdrop changing with the seasons! Thanks so much for sharing.

  5. Gosh, I have never seen a cabinet with glass panes open to the window. Very interesting — and a little confusing at first. But, the aqua blue cabinet in all of its chippy goodness — yes please! Wonderful post, Jennifer.

  6. All in for the aqua blue and exposed brick or the kitchen with the wood beams and the beautiful stove vent. I like glass kitchen cabinet doors but I would have to stock pile some pretty dishes before I moved in. My grandsons Tupperware cups or glass storage bowls would have to get matching lids…both red and blue will not look so pretty. I really love the brick in the kitchen spaces.
