Can we talk about this kitchen though? The dark blue cabinets first caught my eye, which quickly led to admiring the rustic wood beams with geometric pendant lights dressed in gold (which you can purchase on the designer’s website). I love that a more elegant lighting fixture was chosen as opposed to something rustic. And then there’s that beautiful piece of artwork leaning against the wall on the far counter top.

The kitchen opens up to the living room that features a pair of mid-century modern chairs and a leather Chesterfield sofa. Another orb-shaped golden pendant mimics the shape of the kitchen lights.

Another view from an arched doorway shows that the dining room flows into the living room, as well. A wall of windows allows the eye to travel to the views outside. I just love the flow of this living space. Wide, wood plank floors finish off the look.

Dark blue continues into the home office with board and batten siding on the lower half. The dark ceiling shows off yet another geometric-shaped lighting fixture. Large windows keep the room from looking too dark. The drama of contrasting light and dark is so appealing.

Velvet furniture is making a big come back and this pair of deep green sofas look beautiful in the gray family room of the Michigan farmhouse with its ornate fireplace mantel. The whimsical light fixture adds a fun touch. If you look carefully, you’ll see that a sun room is on the other side of the windows.

Plants are a big love of mine and I’d spend a lot of time in this cheery sun room.

A fun-patterned tile floor is found in the mudroom with its custom rich wood cabinetry for storing coats and shoes.

  1. What a beautiful home and décor design. Very fresh and yet warm. I do have one question. In the picture of the living room with the velvet sofa and beautiful fireplace mantel, what am I seeing inside the fireplace? I can’t tell if it’s a pass through view to the sunroom of a back to back fireplace or a TV?
I hope everyone’s New Year is off to a wonderful start.

  2. I too saw through the fireplace into another room. You can see a chair. I wonder why they don’t fill it up with wood or baskets? Maybe for circulating the heat? Still a home full of eye candy. A play on every texture by nature. I like the white horse on the table too! I always find the animals in a room! I think that art piece is at Walmart. Just recently looking at some art for my staircase. I want wood beams now..hmmmm

  3. Not understanding how this is Farmhouse style. Too many modern features to be called that. Only the mudroom, the beams and the wood floors have the warm cozy farmhouse feel.
