Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

This is just a quick post before the hustle and bustle gets started in my farmhouse kitchen.

Canning fruits and vegetables in a farmhouse kitchenI try to get all the cleaning done the days before Thanksgiving.

That way, all I have to focus on is cooking and entertaining.

Ream's Elburn Meat MarketYesterday hubby and I picked up our fresh Ho-Ka turkey at Ream’s Elburn Market.

My son grew up with the owner’s son and played on the same baseball team as kids.

People from all over Chicagoland come to Ream’s to buy their meat.

Thanksgiving Ho-Ka TurkeyOur fresh turkey was all boxed up. Yesterday I brined the turkey and today we cook it!

In fact, I’m putting it in the oven as soon as I get done with this post!

How to Brine a Turkey. You won't believe the difference, this turkey is super moist!Hopefully the turkey will look like this when it’s done.

I can’t wait for my family to arrive! It’ll be a full house.
