Historic Traditional Decor in a Seattle Tudor

Get ready to fall in love! Today’s home tour features historic, traditional decor pulled together by Heidi Caillier Design. I must confess, I love every square inch of this beautiful Seattle Tudor. From the wallpaper to the artwork, and everything in between, this home oozes comfort and style with a nod to historic elements.

An old black cabinet (above) pairs with a leaf-patterned wallpaper in the entryway, providing a first impression of what’s to come throughout the home.

The living room features crown molding and linen window treatments, along with an unexpected, marbled fireplace. Books are stacked on the coffee table for inspirational reading by the fire. A nubby rug adds texture underneath while a copper pendant light finishes the space.

The floral chair and ottoman have captured my heart! I need a new arm chair in my family room and wouldn’t have thought to choose a flowery fabric, but this chair has me re-thinking my plans. Primitive-style oil paintings grace the wall.

The dining room showcases a floral wallpaper, and you get a better idea of the size of the crown molding that’s also seen in the living room. Windsor chairs cozy up to an old wood table.

An arched doorway lends a view from the dining room into the beautiful kitchen with its terra cotta tile floor. I love the warmth it adds to the space.

Gray-green Shaker-style kitchen cabinets combine with black marble countertops to create the coziness you see in historic kitchens. This Seattle Tudor reminds me of everything that I first loved about country style decorating.

A gallery wall of art settles in above the built-in banquette in the kitchen’s dining nook. Note the use of a modern table and Mid-Century style chairs. It’s always fun to see an element of surprise in home decor.

Vertical shiplap hugs the powder room with ornate sconces flanking the mirror. I used to have a wooden toilet seat like this one. Sunlight brightens a picture of a friendly cow.

Remember that blue plaid on the couch? It was super popular when I bought my first home, along with the color of the blue-gray trim you see on the windows.  More vintage artwork fills the wall space.

A child’s room is simply decorated with a wooden 4-poster bed and painted dresser. A plaid, casual rug adds a bit of color.

A rosy mauve envelopes the master bedroom that’s mixed with patterns and colors. Some people are afraid to do this much mixing and matching in their homes, but it’s pulled off beautifully.

A beautiful double sink vanity mimics the shiplap walls in another bathroom. A pretty floral shade hangs at the window, and another wooden toilet seat makes its appearance.

There’s plenty more to see in this Seattle Tudor home decorated in an historic traditional style by Heidi Caillier Design.

  1. I love this home too. I really like everything about the entryway. I long to see a more complete photo of that wonderfully framed print over the fireplace and I love the way the floral fabric has been positioned on the chair and ottoman. A lot of personality here and to heck with the trends unless this qualifies as Grandmillennial.

  2. This home’s decor and architecture is masterful in combining colors, textiles, design styles and artwork. It hits a homerun in providing a crisp, clean look with tons of ambiance. My personal style should not like this home BUT I LOVE IT!!! Thanks for sharing!

  3. A very warm and inviting home. I think a floral chair would be a nice choice. I have a floral sofa in one room that I have always loved and kept for 30 years! It is in great shape having been a high end piece. Now I see florals are coming back in style! Yay!

  4. What a beautiful combination of textures, color, and furnishings. I enjoyed this home tour, thanks.
