More Home Decor I’m Lovin’ Now

Last Tuesday I shared home decor that I’m lovin’ these days. One blog post wasn’t enough to list it all so here’s round two of interiors and design ideas that I’m currently crushing on! You can see the first part of the home decor favorites list if you missed it.

The Color Brown

Now mind you, I’ve never been much of a fan of the color brown but these days I’m really drawn to it! This is a big surprise to me but I can’t ignore the draw of this rich color anymore. I mean, look how warm and inviting this country style room is with the cute little cow painting.

Brown in the bedroom makes you want to curl up and enjoy a bit of shut-eye.

I love chocolate brown walls but if that’s too dark for your taste, consider this two-toned striped treatment in a charming breakfast nook.

Deep Porches

Doesn’t everyone love a big front porch? When hubby and I were considering the purchase of a new home, we looked at a lot of models. I was surprised how many of them had porches that were too small. What’s the point of of front porch if you can’t put comfy furniture on it?

See? A big comfy swing like this is what every front porch needs!

Traditional Light Fixtures

A classic light fixture is always a welcome sight above a dining table.  Add wood shelving with wooden plates and the scene looks even more endearing. This room also uses the color brown to its advantage. I recently wrote a post about adding warmth to rooms with the color brown.

When you have an extra long dining table, why not use two pendant lights? I love the mix of metal and glass, and flame bulbs always look cozy and traditional.

Country Style Furnishings

Country furnishings have timeless appeal and come in a variety of styles, from modern to primitive.

When you find a unique piece of country furnishing, like this wooden vanity, it’s all the more special than what you’d find at your local furniture store.

The Color Gray

Just like the color brown, I never thought I’d be a big fan of gray, but I really find all the various shades of gray so pretty. I just painted part of my bathroom a somewhat dark gray. I can’t wait til it’s all done and I can share it here on the blog!

Light gray is pretty too, especially when used on kitchen cabinets. And that pendant light is so adorable!

Even a porch (a deep porch) looks great in gray tones!

It would’ve been easy to make this list much longer – I guess I have a lot of favorites! What home decor ideas are you crushing on these days?

  1. I have tried to find a cow painting like the one you show because it reminds me of my childhood. Where did you find that one?

  2. Porches… Porches… Porches!!! Would love to have a deep southern style front porch… maybe a swing and a couple of rockers…. and then I seriously dream of a screened back porch ….. 🙂 …. right now, I have a deck on the back and just a small entrance style stoop in front …. Perfectly fine and functional… just not my dream !! lolol … Love these pics that you posted!!

  3. I think I am so much like you. There are so many colors and styles that I like. When I look at your home tours it reminds me that I too, have more likes than dislikes. I guess what we need to do is just keep changing things up when we are able to. I love looking at your blogs!

  4. I’m thinking about painting my woodwork and doors a dark brown to compliment some of my wood furniture. Can’t afford to go out and get new wood doors and I don’t think we would care to strip the paint off everything to stain. It’s funny how we change every few years…

  5. I love those old light fixtures and wood floors. I also love the built-ins they use to have in them and the wrap around front porches I do have a nice screened in front porch that i love Jennifer you always have the best ideas and sounds like you have been a busy person.

  6. I’m not a fan of brown or gray but those spaces were beautiful. Serenity exuded from each room. I can see why you chose them. Thanks for sharing!
