Vintage Finds at Main Street Market Event

historic homes May 22, 2014

A couple weekends ago hubby and I attended the Main Street Market event in Rockford, Illinois. I knew some of the vendors that were going to be there so figured it’d be a fun outing. The weather was perfect and hubby was a good sport … especially since it was also his birthday!  He’s a keeper, don’t you think?

Farmhouse Signs for the HomeWe saw a mix of vintage finds and newer items like the country style signs.

Main Street Market FestivalMain Street Market was held at the Midway Village in Rockford. I’d never been there and loved the grounds.

Main Street Market Festival at Midway VillageHonestly, I enjoyed the historic village more than I enjoyed the shopping.

I think you’ll see why …

Historic Clapboard Farmhouse in Rockford, IllinoisThis adorable clapboard home was the first piece of history that caught my eye.

Farmhouse Front Porch with Vintage RockerIt’s farmhouse porch came complete with a vintage rocker.

Historic Home at Midway Village in Rockford, IllinoisThe back of the house was just as charming as the front of the house.

Historic Law Office at Midway VillageThis little building served as a law office. I love the wooden windmill!

Chamber House at Midway VillageAnother gorgeous clapboard home with a full front porch has a sign that reads Chamber House.

I’m guessing this served as a boarding house back in the day.

Historic Rockford HospitalThis is the historic Rockford Hospital. As you can see, the vendors’ tents were situated all throughout the village. It was truly the perfect setting for the Main Street Market. Lots of goodies were on hand.

I want a fence just like this one around the front of my house. I think it’d be perfect!

Historic Farmhouse in Rockford, IllinoisI noticed the homes all had wooden boardwalks leading to the front door, which is exactly what we have leading up to our front door.

Vintage Finds at the Main Street Market EventI did manage to take time to look at the vendor booths at the Main Street Market. I fell in love with this pretty desk, which reminds me of my own decoupaged desk.

Historic Blacksmith with Old Wagon WheelsI think I need some old wagon wheels by my shed, like these we saw at the Blacksmith shop.

Gazette Building at Midway Village in Rockford, IllinoisGorgeous detailing really makes this brick Gazette building stand out in the village.

Vintage Truck at Main Street MarketToo bad this vintage truck wasn’t for sale! I didn’t buy much at the Main Street Market because I was too busy oohing and aaahing over the historic buildings. I did manage to walk away with a few vintage bottles and a can of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, though.

And hubby? I took him out for dinner later that night at his favorite restaurant and gave him a Pittsburgh Steelers golf bag for his birthday … I had to make it up to him for tagging along with me at the Main Street Market event!

I would have loved going there, your hubs has to be the nicest guy because he’s a Steeler fan! Hope he loves his golf bag!

What a cute village. I was born in Rockford but we moved when I was six months old so it was nice to see a glimpse of my birthplace. Would love to live in that little clapboard house!
