Norwegian Getaway and Chocolate Cake: Friday Finds #103

I’m sorry, but it doesn’t seem possible that I’ve written over 100 Friday Finds features here on the blog. It feels more like 30 to me. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that there’s so many inspirational decorating ideas, great places to visit, tasty recipes, and so on to share for Friday’s features. Lucky for all of us, there’s plenty of creativity to enjoy!

Red farm house in rural environment

The first thing I found this week that captured my heart is this Norwegian-inspired getaway located in a scenic valley in Iowa. You’ll enjoy the tour but the story is inspirational, as well.

Looking to spruce up a room? Check out these wall paneling ideas for any room in the house. Hubby doesn’t know it yet but I’m going to have him redo the wall trim in our downstairs bathroom. Hopefully before Christmas.

When I think of the best place to travel in the fall, I always think of the northeastern part of the country. Check out this fall trip to New Hampshire and you’ll feel like you’re there yourself.

If you’d like to give your kitchen an update but don’t want to spend a ton of money, check out Kayla Payne’s tips for making your kitchen look more expensive.

For the crafty types, check out this idea for printing with leaves. It might be fun to make greeting cards or even wrapping paper using this technique.

For this week’s recipe, don’t miss the best chocolate pound cake by Browned Butter Blondie. I have a feeling once I make this cake I’ll end up eating the whole thing by myself while watching Where the Crawdads Sing. It looks like the kind of cake where one piece won’t be enough. Unless of course, that one piece is half the cake!

Need a place to eat that cake? See these small dining areas with pretty details.

Don’t forget – today is the last day to enter to win a handcarved charcuterie board from Old World Market. Visit the giveaway for more information. The winner will be announced here on the blog October 1st. You can also earn 20% off any purchase of Polder’s dreamware when using the code TOWNANDCOUNTRY at checkout.

And now we’re off to enjoy the weekend. I’m going shopping with my daughter on Saturday and we’ll probably grab lunch while we’re out. What do you have planned?

  4. The Norwegian home is a real charmer. I love the fence. I have always liked the multiple small building idea as well. This is an older couple and it is a labor of love to build this with the goal leaving it to their family, as well as to enjoy for awhile themselves.
