Outdoor Dining to Alleviate Cabin Fever

Some of my extroverted friends and family members are starting to go a little stir crazy with shelter-in-place orders. They want to take their kids to the park, but the parks are closed. Luckily the weather is warming up and outdoor dining seems like a good solution if you’re suffering from cabin fever. (This post contains affiliate links.)

Outdoor Dining with Small Table and Fresh Flowers

A simple picnic table or any table will do. Set a simple tablescape with garden flowers in casual enamelware for a stress-free gathering with immediate family.

As quarantine restrictions get a little more lax, you’ll be able to invite family that doesn’t live with you (hopefully sooner rather than later). Don’t hesitate to bring indoor chairs outside – they don’t need to match.

Right now, you can create a romantic outdoor dining setting for just you and your hubby. This little shabby chic vignette can add a little spark to your marriage. And let’s face it, a lot of us might need it after sheltering in place with your spouse for weeks on end.

Do you live alone? Don’t hesitate to set a special outdoor setting for just yourself! A pair of weathered doors create a wall in the garden for privacy. Grab an intriguing novel, an appetizer, and your favorite beverage and enjoy a little “me time.” It might be just the thing your well-being needs right now.

Update your patio or deck with a set of new chairs. I love this pair of wicker ones. Blankets draped over the back provide warmth if the weather is still a little cool.

Use flowers from your garden to make a gorgeous centerpiece. Our daffodils, tulips, and Virginia bluebells are all blooming now.

Don’t forget the white party lanterns! These paper lanterns are so affordable and add a whimsical touch to a deck, patio, or balcony.

And finally, hang some Edison lights or bring out the candles for evening dining. You’ll be surprised how a pretty table and a little fresh air will enhance your mood and get rid of the cabin fever.

  1. When it’s nice outside it is the perfect time to set outside and these lovely setting are very inspirational. I did sit outside a couple of times last week when it was pretty, the birds were certainly having a good time and they helped my mood.
