Repurposed Shutters Create Easy Wall Art

In my living room is an expanse of wall that’s always tough for me to decorate.

Rather than change a lot of small things on the wall, I opted for one larger item.

I’ve used repurposed shutters to act as a back drop for ever-changing art work.

Bird Poster on Repurposed ShuttersA  vintage bird poster from the flea market adds color to the painted shutters.

I can change out the poster according to the seasons.

White Flea Market SecretaryNext to my repurposed shutters is my flea market secretary.

I found this piece earlier this year at the Kane County Flea Market.

Vintage Bottle CollectionOn top of the secretary are some of my vintage bottles.

I love this purple one with its detailing.

Purple and Aqua Vintage Bottles with Coneflower I have no idea what era it’s from. But I love its color.

Repurposed Shutters become Easy Wall ArtI found my bird poster at the flea market.

It will probably hang on the painted shutters until I do something different for fall.

What are some of your wall decorating go-to tricks?

  1. I just LOVE old shutters, I have a 6 foot one that I hung over my headboard! I just love the plain, simple look though adding a little banner might be sweet as well. Thanks for some inspiration. 🙂 Have a great day.

  2. Love the old shutters Jennifer as a frame for your changing art work. Looks so great. Love the pop of color from the bottles too. So pretty. Love that secretary you got at Kane. Good thing you saw it first I think I may have had to have that piece too. Have a wonderful week.

  3. I love this idea! My mom isn’t one for wall art so I might have to work her up to something like this. What a great way to keep it the same yet different season to season 🙂
