Let’s get cozy and head to southern climes to see a rustic beach style cottage that presents coastal style in a warm and inviting way!

We’ll start in the kitchen that’s updated for today’s lifestyle. Cabinetry with clean lines pair well with a little bit of rustic beam work overhead. A couple of windows and track lighting make for a bright work space.

From the kitchen, you can see into the dining room with its gorgeous wood ceiling and planked walls.

Expansive windows and a French door keep the room from feeling dark. On the contrary, the rustic beach style cottage dining room is both warm and bright at the same time. Chair pads with ties lend a little softness.

Adjacent to the dining room and catty corner to the kitchen is the comfortably inviting living room.

A bold blue and white striped rug and pair of orange pillows adds the right pop of color.

Narrow French doors can be opened for southern breezes while white drapes can be closed when the sun gets too intense.

A wood vaulted ceiling lends an element of spaciousness to the white bedroom. A hide rug (which I hope is faux) provides softness underfoot.

Note the pairing of wood types on the French door in the bathroom and throughout the house. The wood floors are unique with their rich textured planks – perfect for traffic in and out of the house.

Open concept living can still feel warm and cozy when texture and wood are added to living spaces. Simple furnishings allow you to enjoy the beauty of the architectural details.

  1. I love the color of the wood in this one and the way it was decorated. Thank you for all these posts you send especially at this time when some of us who live alone get a little bored or restless it has truly helped.

  2. A very comfortable cottage. I couldn’t decide if the dinning area has skylights or is that’s artificial flat lighting? I’m with you on the skin rug, if it isn’t fake it was a huge animal. All in all the place is very inviting.
