Rustic Cabin Living at Panther Pond

For some reason I keep coming across beautiful homes in Maine that I want to feature here on my blog. Today’s tour showcases a rustic cabin on Panther Pond – beautifully built for a young family.

Ceilings and beams are left open to create a sense of spaciousness throughout the rustic cabin. Red cabinetry doesn’t get lost in the kitchen filled with natural light.

The architect made great use of windows to capture the beauty of the woods and pond. A beautiful stone fireplace complements the honey-toned wood. I love that the window trim is painted to add a bit of color to the space.

The expansive porch takes advantage of the waterfront view. And once again, plenty of light is allowed in through windows and skylights. So if you’re not a fan of dark cabins, this is the vacation home for you!

This rustic cabin reminds me of the Airbnb rental we stayed at during our recent trip to southwest Michigan. And next month, we’re staying in another rustic cabin in Galena, Illinois just before Christmas.

The bedrooms enjoy rough hewn wood-paneled walls, adding to the rustic vibe of camp-style living. Painted furniture lends a bit of cottage appeal.

You’ll even find a splash of color on the shower curtain in the bathroom.

And here’s a view of the rustic cabin located at the edge of Panther Pond in Cumber County, Maine.

For as often as I feature Maine home tours, I really ought to get out to visit that great state. I’m sure I could find a charming Airbnb to enjoy!

  1. I love this house very much, although, once again, the terms “cabin” and “cottage” don’t seem to mean the same things as they did in the past. I also love that this home has a smallish kitchen, not feeling the need for the expansive, multiple-island kitchen that seems to be so in style and necessary these days. Even with its large size, it seems to be a house that could be a warm and comfortable HOME for this lucky family.

  2. On this cold Monday morning this is certainly a wonderful place to see. I would love to find a place like this to spend some time, even in the cold i just know it would be cozy.

  3. Love the wood used in this home. And the color they used in the kitchen seems to go so well with the wood tones. Truly beautiful home.
