Rustic Meets Modern in Amazing San Francisco Farmhouse
Today I’ve got a home tour that’s a little bit different. Rustic touches are infused into a modern style San Francisco farmhouse by Dotter & Solfjeld Architecture + Design with good old country styling. I love this home for its unique character and beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces.

Step inside and enjoy the country style of this beautiful home with vaulted ceilings and painted wood. I like how the very highest peak of the living room ceiling was left stained – and the windows way up high are a really nice touch. The shades of green on the walls and trim are a great color choice with the rustic wood floors.

Not only is the living room pretty and open, but the view out the very large wall of doors is amazing. It’s like an additional living room – outdoors. The renovated farmhouse is located in the San Francisco area.

The kitchen carries the same color scheme with darker trim. The space enjoys a mix of wood and painted cabinetry.. Large windows above the kitchen sink provide additional viewing vantages from inside the home.

The sunroom also enjoys great views and feels cozy and inviting with its dark walls and built-in sectional seating. Red upholstery and a bright yellow pendant light keep the space from looking too dark.

The powder room continues the shiplap wall theme. A live edge slab of wood creates a rustic vanity for the sink.

The master bedroom lends the impression of sleeping up in the tree tops. I love that furnishings are kept to a minimum so the architectural details of the house can stand out. The use of white, color, and wood throughout are also very appealing.

The master bathroom is especially stunning with the same light fixture as the bedroom. A gorgeous soaker tub takes advantage of the forest view while a rustic double vanity and walk-in shower add to the functionality and design.

The front of the home reveals the pleasing mix of clapboard siding and barn wood. I always love a metal roof and they last far longer than a shingled roof so the investment is worth every penny. The different angles of the rooflines add to the home’s exterior appeal.

A step back shows how the home is beautifully landscaped with native plantings that help to soften the hardscape walls and patios.

I’m not a “blue person,” but I do love that bathroom and the tub is spectacular.
Beautiful home
This would be a great stay for a very snowy winters day. I have a white kitchen and light colored home which I love BUT every time I see this warm shade of blue/green with warm natural wood I’m instantly comfy. It reads calm to me.
That book shelf/tv console around that bend, very cool. That bed tucked in under the warm wood ceiling, yes! That tub! I’m in!!
I enjoyed this home..thanks Jennifer…I think I’ll save for some ideas later.
The different colors of the wood and height of the windows really opens it up for that beautiful view.
That is not in San Francisco. Not enough space. From the views, I’d say it is down the Peninsula – Burlingame to Palo Alto. Or possibly Contra Costa County.
