Simple Thanksgiving Table Setting

Remember when you were a kid and reenacted the pilgrim’s first Thanksgiving in grade school? I loved it!  Some of us would dress as pilgrims, and some would dress as Indians.  We’d do a little play (I never got the parts with reading lines, unfortunately) and talk about what the pilgrims ate at a long harvest table. That first harvest table is the inspiration for today’s simple Thanksgiving table setting with natural elements. Today I’m joining a week long of blogger tablescapes celebrating turkey day!  You’ll find links to the other tables at the end of this post. And … I have a little secret to share with you at the end, too!

Simple Thanksgiving Table

My mother taught me the art of setting a pretty table. Every holiday I loved helping her set each place setting and she’d tell me why she selected a particular centerpiece.

Simple Thanksgiving TableThis year I chose a traditional centerpiece for Thanksgiving Day. Baby Boos and a peachy colored pumpkin are fringed with colorful leaves.

Natural Style Thanksgiving CenterpieceA wide burlap ribbon acts as a runner to tie all the elements together.

Natural Style Thanksgiving CenterpieceI elevated the peachy pumpkin ever so slightly with a short cake stand.

Simple Thanksgiving TablescapeVintage pieces like flea market silverware and hobnail tumblers lend a down-to-earth feeling to the tablescape. I save the glitz and glam for our family Christmas dinner.

Thanksgiving Place SettingEach setting has a sheet of decorative scrapbook paper for a place mat. I used large orange plates as chargers, and topped them with smaller aqua plates.

Sunflower Napkin RingBurlap sunflower napkin rings add a bit of rusticity to my natural harvest table.

Baby Boos in Thanksgiving CenterpieceEarlier this week I shared 3 Thanksgiving centerpieces and now you know which one I chose. The first one with natural elements like this Baby Boo pumpkin. The pine cones in mason jars came in at a close second!

Simple Thanksgiving Table SettingMy simple Thanksgiving table setting is ready for my family. Our menu always consists of brined turkey, potatoes, and stuffing. The vegetables and other side dishes change from year to year.

I’ll be serving wine on Thanksgiving … maybe a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir, both of which compliment turkey perfectly!

New Blonde on Wine blog. Uncorked and Uncomplicated! And now for my secret … if you’d like to learn a little more about wine from a lay person’s point of view, you’ll want to check out my new blog … Blonde on Wine … which is coming very soon!
