Soft and Pretty Rooms for You!

I think it’s safe to say that for most of us, we decorate our homes to create a certain ambiance or mood. We use darker colors to feel like a room is wrapping us in a warm hug, we use earthy elements like wood to make us feel grounded, or we incorporate pastel colors and ruffles for a little romance. Today we’re focusing on the latter with a collection of soft and pretty rooms.

White slip covers and long drapes are perfect additions for adding a bit of femininity to a living room. Add an ottoman with a flowing gathered skirt and floral pillows to complete the look.

Soft and Pretty Kitchens

You might not consider the kitchen as the place for “soft and pretty” but when pastel shades are brushed onto cabinets, the effect can be very appealing.

Paint your front door pink for a soft and appealing first impression. The front door is a great spot for experimenting with color since it doesn’t take much effort to repaint if you grow tired of its color.

  1. Softer colors appeal to me and have since I was a little girl. The pictures you featured all have a calming feel to them and are great inspiration.

  2. I’m not normally a pastel person but I love soft colors and fabrics in my bedroom and attached bath for the calm they bring. At least until my dog manages to sneak in there before I can wash her muddy feet. Then things are not so calm …. Sigh

  3. I like long curtains that puddle on the floor in my living room and i have ruffles on my throw pillows for my bedroom. Thank you for all these ideas, i liked that feathered fixture in the bedroom, although i did wonder about keeping it clean.

  4. I like the pastel colors, soft fabric, ruffles and lace. I especially like it for spring and summer. The kitchen is where the menus, grocery list, etc are created and most of the time your morning meal is eaten there. Kitchen is where the day starts and I like it, of all the rooms, to be cheerful. All of the thing that you brought to us today are lovely. Thanks

  5. I dont use many pastels in my decorating but I love the use of aqua and white on the porch you show. Would love to copy if only I could get a screened in porch.😊

  6. I love the soft colors. The trend seems to be darker walls now but for me these soft colors are so easy to live with, I just love them. Very Nice photo today Jennifer, beautiful choice.

  7. To think that my favorite color was brown growing up not knowing how pretty a room could be with all the frills of lace and ruffles. Those built ins for the kitchens are wow!! Now I want to go buy a white frilly blouse for summer. Enjoyed this a lot. Thanks Jennifer.

  8. So just when I think that I might paint my lower cabinets a blue color, along comes that all beautiful all white kitchen…..

All of those softly designed rooms were gorgeous. Thanks for sharing these beautiful spaces.
