Some Women Like Shoes. I Like Bottles!

Been workin’ on a few more bottles. Trying different looks and different techniques so creativity doesn’t get in a rut. Speaking of ruts, I saw a couple of bottles in ruts by the side of the road while I was out for my morning run. I’ve gotta remember to go back and get ’em … you know, just doin’ my part to keep the roadside clean!

I found these bottles at my secret garbage dump. Cute shapes crying for a makeover.
The French labels are, of course, from the Graphics Fairy.

The little angel postcard was a recent find at the Kane County Flea Market.

The bottle on the right is aged with paint, the bottle on the left is not.

The small aqua bottle, also from the dump, wears a sash of simple lace.

These tiny treasures are about 3″ high.

How ’bout this crusty bottle? I can’t get the top off to clean the inside,
but the more I look at it, the more I like it grungy and dirty.
All three were found for free … at the secret dump, of course.

I’ve started work on a couple more bottles.
You can see previous bottle projects here and here.
Now hopefully I’ll remember to go pick up those bottles alongside the road.

  1. so pretty Jennifer! Do you have the link to the lavender perfume graphics? I’d love to make a couple of these bottles myself 🙂

  2. Love all of these especially the crusty one. I am glad I am not the only one picking bottles up from the roadside! Came over from Shabbilicious where I posted my silvered wine jugs!

  3. Sweet bottles, Jennifer! I love how you transformed them into little things of beauty! Will you do a tutorial on how you aged that one with paint? I’d love to try that technique out. 🙂

  4. Your altered art bottle are adorable! They are so interesting with the special technique you used to paint them. I realized a couple of days ago that I have some bottles with interesting shapes that are on top on my kitchen cabinets. They are filled with vinegar and stuff and have turned dark. I think they could use a makeover into something prettier like these.

Thank you, Jennifer, for sharing your creativity at Potpourri Friday!

  5. I love old bottles. Funny thing is that my children have started hunting for them for me. Some have been old that they have found and some not. They all mean a lot to me they because they found them.

Yours look great all dolled up.

  6. Any woman that collects bottles is my kind of woman! Your collection is wonderful! Those lavender bottles make my heart flutter. So lovely. Keep scouring those dumps and roadsides!

  7. I love bottles too. I was at an auction last week and a pottery chamber pot was for sale. The auctioneer called it a Texas teacup, which I had never heard before and apologies to any Texans, it doesn’t sound too nice, does it? Anyway, I was thinking that the owner of the chamber pot would have been amazed that people were bidding on that item and your dump digging made me think of that. Aren’t we funny, the way we love old junk?
