The amazing living room ceiling might be the first thing that catches your eye in the South Carolina lake home, but then you notice the beautiful fireplace with a stunning landscape painting. The rug is a unique pattern and adds color to the room. And of course, who can ignore the antique table that greets you – along with a pair of pretty Jenny Lind style spindle chairs?

The earth tones used throughout the home feel organic and welcoming. It provides a homey backdrop for pops of color like the landscape painting and plaid curtains in the dining room. Beautiful Windsor-style chairs gather round the dining room table with its wrought iron chandelier. This is the type of decor that first interested me in country styled decorating.

Adjacent to the dining room is the creamy kitchen with custom cabinetry. You catch glimpses of the vaulted ceilings with their wood beams. Despite the loftiness of the ceiling, the interior spaces feel warm and comforting.

The kitchen in the South Carolina lake home enjoys a large island for cooking and gathering. This house is located near Lake Keowee which is a manmade reservoir in the northwest corner of the state.

The unique ceiling treatment above the home bar recalls the vibe of an old European pub. What a great place to enjoy a hot toddy or your favorite glass of wine with a friend or two. This is the best in-home bar I’ve ever seen. Hands down!

A four-poster canopy bed takes center stage in the master bedroom. The bedding in light gold and tan tones invites you to curl up under covers on a chilly night. A pretty pillow adds a touch of blue while the rug emphasis the tan and golden tones of the room. An antique blanket chest graces the foot of the bed adding an old world country vibe.

A cozy reading spot with classic wing chairs is found on the other end of the bedroom.

Another bedroom sports a pretty metal bed and beautiful crown molding painted in a deep gray. An old steamer trunk provides storage for extra blankets and bedding.

The outdoor gathering spaces are just as warm and welcoming as the interior spaces. Of course, a southern porch wouldn’t be complete without rocking chairs! The Randolph Cottage used to be my favorite featured home tour on my blog, but I think this house just took its place!

  1. So warm and welcoming! It is so nice to see natural wood and color come back into our décor. I find it much more inviting than all white/cream rooms. Maybe because this trend has been the “go to” color scheme for so long now. I hope we are seeing the revival of natural woods and color into our décor! Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!

  5. Just loved the ceiling in the living room. All the natural woods spoke to me. I agree with the Linda too while the creams/whites are ok I personally prefer the warmth of natural wood which this home was in abundance of. That porch was to die for with that spectacular view.

  6. Lovely place and i do know it would be easy to keep clean cause i’m not sure you would ever notice any stains in this house, which is very smart. It is a lake house after all, thanks.
