Southern Farmhouse Becomes Magazine Idea House

A classic 1830’s southern farmhouse outside Atlanta, Georgia gained notoriety when it became Southern Living Magazine’s Idea House in 2012. The entire renovation of this southern charmer by Historical Concepts took approximately 7 months before it stood proud in its new glory. All the amazing details you’d expect to find in a classic farmhouse you’ll find right here. Above, white clapboard siding and black shutters create elegant yet casual appeal. Brick steps lead you to the deep wrap around porch, the quintessential icon of any Southern home. Cozy lighting creates warm appeal on lazy summer nights, while a glimpse of the gorgeous staircase peeks through the open front door.

A spacious porch swing provides welcome relief at the end of the day, flanked by two metal vintage porch chairs. Lime green end tables are perfect perches for a glass of lemonade or iced tea and add fun color to this end of the porch with its geometric-patterned rug.

    The Southern Living house is actually in Senoia, GA which is located outside of Atlanta. We toured it and it is absolutely gorgeous.

    I took lots of photos and posted them on my blog but had to take it down (as did many bloggers) until the issue of Southern Living came out I think that August so they could feature it ahead of bloggers (hope that makes sense). I took it down and advised why on my blog and lots of people thought it would be good advertisement for the SL issue as well as the house itself but as my granddaughter would say..whatever!

    Also, Senoia is the town where The Walking Dead is filmed, did you know that? My husband watched that show but it was too gory for me!

  3. Classic look, as if it could have been decorated last week. Some colors used here are a bit too funky for me, but good design just never changes. Marry Christmas 2021!
