Spring Tiptoes through the Living Room

While we were getting 10 inches of snow outside, I was fluffing the living room with a few touches of spring. The longer days are cheering my spirits despite the fact that Old Man Winter is hangin’ on for dear life. I brought in a few greens and changed the arrangement on the shelf above the loveseat.

Living RoomLook closely and you’ll see our precious Puddy lurking in the dining room. He’s our rescue kitty and he’s been such a good little boy. We found him out in the yard and brought him inside. Now he’s a pretty big boy!

Cottage Living RoomThe French Boulangerie (bakery) sign is new. I originally thought I’d put it in the kitchen, but I like it here.

French Bakery SignA horizontal mirror used to sit on this shelf and I never really cared for it. I almost didn’t order the boulangerie sign and I have to say I’m glad I got it. I think a vertical piece looks better here. Unfortunately, I’m the type of person who has to see things before I can decide if I like them or not.

Living Room Vignette

Spring greens are tucked in a faux mercury glass bowl, accompanied by a twig ball and a rusty iron bird bell.

Shelf VignetteThe shelf is simply an old barn board that we found. I wish it was slightly longer for this spot.

Rusty Iron BirdAnother rusty iron bird. I snap these up whenever I see them. They’re cute, and not very expensive.

French Wall ArtA little mossy plant fits perfectly in an oversized white coffee mug.

White Shabby Coffee TableUnderneath the mossy fern I filled an ironstone bowl with moss and straw balls.

Shabby Coffee TableAnd under the shabby coffee table is a bamboo script mat. I love these mats – they’re extremely durable and work well in a house with pets. They’re also super easy to clean. Always a plus!

Cottage Living RoomThe paint color above the chair rail is Lacecap by Martha Stewart. Lacecap as in lacecap hydrangeas. It’s a gray blue with lavender undertones. Although I like the color, I need to re-paint this room. The photos don’t show some of the discoloration.

Cottage Living RoomThe little club chair used to wear a white slipcover but I swapped it out for a wedding ring quilt to add color.

Cottage Living RoomA pink kalanchoe adds another pop of spring color in the living room.

Pink KalanchoeThe pink kalanchoe is tucked inside a ceramic bowl and set atop a Grecian column.

Pink KalanchoeFor me, nothing says spring better than the color pink. It’s so fresh and pretty. Have you been adding bits of spring to your decor this month? Soon it will be Easter and we’ll have turned the corner toward a new season!

  5. Soon that cold white stuff that the old man drops on us will end. For me I just don’t think it’s gonna be in March so I have to hold out hope for April.

  15. i love the Grecian column and the coffee table. We have a small house and I use a bench right now, but I am thinking a table that size would add a little space. Now I am on a mission to find something like it.

  16. I can’t wait for winter to finally be over! I am getting real itchy for everything to start greening up here in NC. We don’t get snow but it does get dreary. I love the color palette of the room! Love the pillows on the couch. Too cute!

  17. You’d never know it was snowing outside when everything looks so cheerful and bright inside. Lovely soft shades of spring look so welcoming at this time of year. Just lovely.

  18. The arrangement of the room is very peaceful and inviting. Please tell me where to purchase slip covers like the one covering your sofa.

  19. Such a lovely livingroom…love your coffee table and the mat, where ever did you buy it? We have Buster and I’ve been looking for a new rug. Having one that is great with pets would be wonderful:)

  20. I have the very same occasional table! (coffee table-nightstand). We painted ours turquoise to compliment the cream-grey-white color scheme in the master bedroom. Thrift shop find $10. The glass is a tiny bit scratched, but easily hidden with bedside tableau. 😉
