Stunning Coastal Home in Portland, Maine

We’re in the middle of summer so it’s the perfect time to tour a stunning coastal home located in Portland, Maine. I think Maine is the only one of the thirteen colony states that I haven’t visited.

I love both the furniture and architectural details of this coastal home. I’m assuming the Ann-Ida Lubeck sign features the names of the homeowners, but I could be wrong. The chairs flanking the dresser create a beautiful grouping at the bottom of the staircase.

Who doesn’t love a cozy corner for reading or enjoying intimate conversation with a loved one? The rich wood really sets off the gold-framed oil painting.

Striped wallpaper in the dining room creates a nautical vibe. Natural wicker chairs allude to the color and texture of sand. And did you notice the transom window leading into the dining room?

A beautiful light-filled hallway brightens the home’s interior. It looks like bead board on the cathedral-style ceiling. I like that the light fixtures are simple and don’t distract from the simple beauty of this space. A stone floor adds a hint of gray and additional texture.

The top of the staircase has an equally appealing grouping as the bottom of the stairs. A vintage glass-front cabinet in a large nook houses books and treasures.

I call dibs on this bedroom! Look at the view of the water outside the French doors. Blue and white stripes are the perfect decorating scheme for this coastal home bedroom.

Flowing fabrics soften a very pale blue bedroom with a four-poster canopy bed. Ceiling beams keep the vaulted room from feeling too lofty. It has just the right touch of airy appeal.

  1. What a beautiful and relaxing home. Has a fresh feel to it. I like the chosen colour scheme. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Another beautiful house to view. I always love how people bring in the blue and white color schemes when they live by the ocean. When are you coming to Maine? I think you will really like it. The views, smells, and sounds of the ocean are calling you. This time of the year there is an abundance of lobsters (at reasonable prices) and wild Maine blueberries. Come and enjoy them and all this state has to offer. Oh yes, I live here by the ocean. I live further east than Portland. I could never afford living on the ocean there but Maine has over 3,000 miles of coastline. It is a daily blessing from God to live by the ocean.

    1. So if you do end up visiting Maine you will still have one of the 13 colonies left to visit because Maine is not one of the original 13 colonies

  3. I love the colors, furniture, and all the nooks and crannies in this house. The landscape is really nice!!

  4. Nate and Jon – do you really feel it necessary to give Jennifer a history/geography lesson? Just enjoy the tour and move on…..

Jennifer – A beautiful home to tour. I love the moody rooms in the house as well as the brighter, beachy ones. I would love to visit Maine also. My daughter fell in love with it when she was there and swore that she would live there one day.
