Tour a Colorful Bespoke Kitchen

Some people struggle with the amount of color to add to a room. How much is too much?  And how much is enough to keep a room from looking sterile or boring? Today I’ve found a colorful bespoke kitchen that enjoys a pleasing balance of various hues.

Wood floors, white walls, and light gray kitchen cabinets provide a solid foundation for adding color.

Your eye is immediately drawn to the stove area. Shelves are lined with colorful dishware and a pair of animal heads create a cheery vibe.

Red and white star-patterned tiles add a pleasing brush of background color above the stove.

If you’re not familiar with the term, bespoke means tailor-made. You won’t find cookie cutter design since the space is customized to the homeowner’s wishes.

The term bespoke is used more frequently in the U.K. than it is in the U.S. I love all of the custom work created by deVOL Kitchens in the U.K. Their motto is “Simple Furniture. Beautifully Made.”

A pale blue kitchen island blends well with the gray cabinets. It adds another element of color in a soft hue so as not to compete with the other colors. Pretty pendant lights add a functional and appealing touch.

A large window above the farmhouse sink keeps the space bright and cheery.

Gold fixtures lend an element of glamour. A few empty vases add a bit more color in the bespoke kitchen.

Pitchers, canisters, and everyday dishes add color and whimsy on the shelves of the built-in cubby.

If we ever replace our kitchen cabinets (which I hope to do this year), I think I’d like something similar to this kitchen.

  1. I do like this kitchen, with the exception of the “colorful” tile around the range. I guess I’m just a neutral person at heart, but I do love the gray cabinets, the wood floor, the countertops, and the unique pieces that catch your eye. That embellished copper teakettle on the stove is amazing.

  2. The kitchen has it’s on personality, and a very happy one. I would love a gas range. I can almost see tablecloths hanging in the tall cabinet, napkins and tea towels in the drawers. I also liked the stairway coming down to the kitchen, no one would know when you raid the frig at midnight.

  3. I love this bespoke kitchen too.Wonderfully built cabinets and tile that really makes a statement. I loved that little kettle on the stove and colorful tins. Thanks Jennifer this is a great place to spend some time making brown bread or scones.

  4. I love that Kitchen! The tiles behind the stove are such an interesting element. I think my husband would not appreciate them, though. Years ago, like 15 or so, I first came across the term bespoke when drooling over UK home decor magazines. I asked a man from England whom I worked with what the word meant. He didn’t Know! I figured it meant either custom made, or DIY. But I like the term, tailor made, the best.

  5. I think I’d be spending a lot more time in the kitchen cooking and baking if I had a kitchen like this. Loved the cabinets, the lighting, the window over the sink, everything. Thanks for showing this cute kitchen.

  6. I am glad you defined the word ‘bespoke’. I love most things about the kitchen–color, floors, cabinets, window! I’m not a fan of open shelves. I would have enclosed all but the counter level at least with frosted glass, maybe.

  7. Thank you for teaching us a new word. I am not crazy about this kitchen. I do love the design (cabinets, floor, counter tops, sink), but I would leave off the tile behind the stove (to busy), and there seems to be a lot of clutter. I do, however, love the kettle and the animal heads are adorable. Thanks, Jennifer.

  8. I don’t have any family for large gatherings but if I did I’d love that stove. The colored tile is pretty. I’d fear I’d tire of it too quickly though. I am liking the new added color that’s coming into style but I still want to be able to go back to neutral when I want. That commercial with Kelly Clarkson..that tile guy is doing a form of “stick” tile..hmmm…I wonder about that.

  9. What a delightful kitchen and a unique color pallet! It is so nice to see color coming back into the decor of rooms. These were light hues and yet made such a big impact! Thanks for sharing!

    Hope everyone is staying safe!

  10. I love the kitchen, but the tile behind the stove is too jarring for me. I have a somewhat bespoke kitchen when I remodeled a few years ago…..but I’m a neutral person, I choose color with my countertop accessories….everything else, is gorgeous, I really want to research the kitchen faucet, I’d be willing to swap out what I have, for something similar…I wonder how long the owners will be able to live with the red tile? All the bits an pieces above the stove are fun to look at, and collection to the left on the open shelves….

  11. I love this idea! Thank you so much for this post! We will be moving soon and will need to renovate our kitchen. This is very much like what I had in mind for the space.
