Tour a Cozy Brooklyn Townhome

It’s been a while since I’ve featured a city dwelling on the blog. So today we’re headed to New York to enjoy a tour of this cozy Brooklyn townhome with vintage details.

Step across the threshold into the charming little entryway. A tiny radiator stays out of the way with a fancy wall shelf above it. Transom windows and sidelights keep the space bright and pretty.

The age of the Brooklyn townhome is revealed by its wide plank wood floors that show their character. Wide trim around doorways add to the historic appeal of this pretty room.

Notice there are multiple fireplaces in the home. The living room is both elegant and comfortable.

The traditional kitchen proves that plenty of style can reside in a small space. Subway tile pairs beautifully with shaker cabinets and black counter tops.

At the opposite end of the kitchen is a built-in banquette for a cozy meal.

The bathroom is beautifully appointed with a marbled counter top and faucet fixtures that extend from the wall.

A wooden pergola with vines provides refreshing shade during hot New York summers.

I’ve often wondered what it would be like to live in a row house or townhome in the city. It’s a life completely different than the one I live.

  1. I could live in a home like this. One of my favorite movies around the holidays (loved the show too) is Sex and the City. Carrie took a cab New Years night in her pj’s and fancy fur with heels to reach her friend in Brooklyn, Miranda who was alone and eating Chinese food. Oh I think that kind of caring just doesn’t happen much anymore…especially in the city on NY Eve getting a cab?! Lol! Heart warming. Love this home! If it wasn’t so darned expensive I’d like to visit NY…after Covid that is:0)

  2. It is quite lovely. I’m surprised at how big it is, I wonder what the square footage is. While the kitchen is quite charming you can tell the age by how small it is compared to the other rooms. It always still amazes me that they hid the kitchens back in the day especially now when everyone says that is the heart of the home.

  3. The first picture shows “ribs” in those beautiful wood floors. I’m assuming they must be caused by the floor joists underneath? So authentic. Amazing that no one came along and updated them with something they thought was better and actually awful along the years.
