Tis the season for Christmas inspiration and this week’s Friday Finds includes a few goodies. Along with a bit of holiday DIY are a couple of European travel dreams you might enjoy. Maybe not this year, but once travel restrictions are loosened up and it’s safe to travel to other countries again. Still, there’s no reason why you can’t do a little dreaming and planning now.

This Week’s Friday Finds:

Hey, I’m happy to announce that I learned a new word this week. Bolt-hole. Have you heard that term? It’s defined as a place where a person can escape and hide. I think every time I go on Airbnb I’m looking for a bolt-hole. LOL. Anywho, here’s charming Scottish bolt-hole that you can rent. It even has sheep nearby!

You’ve probably heard of wainscot and board-and-batten, but do you know what a dado is? This Old House shares five types of paneling treatments found in historic homes. Consider this your short history lesson for the day.

Some of you have commented that you’d like to see more Christmas projects you can do yourself. I found this super easy DIY Christmas swag tutorial that looks like it can be done in a few minutes. If you have a live tree and trim the bottom branches, this swag is the perfect way to use those trimmings.

Do you need help decorating your Christmas tree this year? Balsam Hill offers pro tips to make the job easier. I use the majority of these ideas when I decorate my tree(s). I think I’m just doing one tree this year.

My friend Lucy shared how to make beautiful amber glass ornaments on her blog, Craftberry Bush. I especially love the tortoise look she gave some of them.

Are you struggling with what to ask Santa for Christmas this year? How about a European vacation? World of Wanderlust shares a list of 25 secret small European towns you might want to put on your travel bucket list. Hallstatt, Austria looks especially interesting.

That’s all for this week. Enjoy your weekend – the weatherman is calling for snow in our area. I hope he’s wrong. We still have leaves to rake and many of the trees are still full of leaves!
