Unique Decorating Ideas: Friday Finds #84

friday finds February 4, 2022

Happy Friday, friends! I always enjoy these posts when I get to share special treasures I’ve found through the week. Some of these finds are from years ago, and others are fresh and new. Today shares a mix of the two.

Easter table setting with bird nests

I’m going to start with the most unusual find of the week – this all black house located in Lincoln, Illinois. You may have noticed the exterior of homes being black (I featured on in this post), but you probably haven’t seen a house that’s black both inside and out.

Something more traditional, is what’s called the barn room that’s actually a living room. It has a lot of wonderful details. I especially love the botanical wall. Although there aren’t any recent posts on this blog, you can follow on instagram which has recent posts.

Did you know it’s bedroom month at Apartment Therapy? Me neither! It looks like they’ll be adding more bedroom ideas as the month continues. So if you need inspiration for your slumbering space, check that page often.

Home Bunch notified me that they featured one of my craft projects in their article about DIY wood slice decorations. There are loads of other ideas – I might have to make the wood slice bunny.

My friend Doreen at Hymns and Verses shared ideas for decorating with bird nests on her blog a few years ago. They all look simple enough to enhance your home for spring.

And finally, time for a recipe! This French apple cake had me salivating at first site. It looks so creamy and delicious. I’m always looking for ways to use apples that I purchased but didn’t eat.

In case you missed it, head over to my new blog, Pond and Garden. While you’re there, sign up to receive notification of new blog posts! Or better yet, visit my subscription page to get my free ebook, How to Create a Butterfly Garden.

I loved today’s finds! So inspiring. I love winter but today has me looking forward to spring. The black house on the other hand is different. I think the style of the house looks outdated, so the black is a really inexpensive way to make it classy.

Congrats on the Home Bunch craft published wood craft. There are so many ways to make use of wood tree rounds and your decoupage idea is a good one!
The black house is a no from me, just have to say. I prefer a light interior for house and car. Dreary just comes to mind for me i guess.
    The apple cake looks scrumptious!

That black house was really unique and somewhat depressing, it could be cute, the design and layout changed. I need some bedroom ideas, I love my bedroom but can’t decide decoration for the walls. Those wood slices had so many ideas. Have a great weekend and finish your bedroom, I want to see it, lol!!

That black room would suck the life right out of me, so no, too dark and forboding! Looking forward to trying that apple cake recipe, it looks yummy!

It’ a “no” from me on the black house. In recent years I’ve seen some lovely houses painted black but I’m afraid for me, this isn’t one of them. I agree with you Jennifer about the botanical wall in the barn house, it is very nice.
