Waterfront Cottage: Charming Home Tour

Many people desire a home by the water to enjoy spectacular views and breath the fresh seaside air. Today we’re heading to New Jersey to tour a waterfront cottage filled with natural light and charm. An abundance of windows allows a view of the bay from almost every room in the house. Note the rooftop deck that provides an ideal place for watching boats during the day and gazing at the stars in the evening.

Containers planted with pretty flowers greet you as you ascend the steps to the front door.

Beach style decorating is evident the minute you step inside. A whimsical Beach sign, a nautical clock, and a model sailboat all give a nod to the location of the waterfront cottage.

Blue and white create the perfect color scheme for a coastal home. A large bay window provides views of the water outside.

A white fireplace provides warmth during cooler evenings. Bookcases house numerous books for reading out on the porch on a lazy summer day.

The kitchen is equally light and airy with white cabinets and light counter tops. Wood floors add an element of warmth and keep the kitchen from feeling cold or impersonal.

The charming dining area is adjacent to the kitchen for an open concept floor plan.

There are several bedrooms throughout the waterfront cottage, but I’m just sharing a few. A beautiful, vaulted wood ceiling creates a feeling of spaciousness. A cottage style bed enhances the beach-themed decor.

A simple quilt adds homespun charm to another bedroom with a vaulted ceiling.

With views like this, you could sit for hours and watch the boats go by.

  1. Wow, this is truly a beautiful waterfront home. I do think, however, that this home is WAY past the point of what I consider a “cottage.” We Midwest people have a totally different idea of what a cottage is, don’t you think? 🙂 🙂

  2. Wow what a dream home. I always wanted to live somewhere that you could see mountains and water. I love a mountain in the morning and a lake or sea in the evening, the water would loll me to sleep.Thanks.

  3. I love this home, but it is awfully large for a cottage. However, it is decorated in cottage style. The view is beautiful. I do enjoy all the home tours you feature. I always look forward to seeing them each week.

  4. I love the light and airy feel. Feels more like a home than a cottage…Love the nautical feel and the wood floors…and wow those windows !

  5. Stunning views! I think it’s a bit larger than what I consider a cottage, though. Love the casual elegance, right down to the shoes left on the kitchen dining chair! It makes it seem more realistic than the stuff of dreams. Thanks for posting this one, Jennifer.

  6. Lovely home and unusual to see a patchwork bedspread. I do love patchwork in the right setting and this is so right!

  7. I had a giggle when I saw the Jersey Shore “cottage”. I live here at the shore also in a similar setting and houses here are referred to as beach houses. I grew up in the Midwest and enjoyed cottages on lakes that were considerably smaller. Even the larger homes there were referred to as lake houses. I guess size does matter. Lol
