Charming White Brick Cottage in Birmingham

Today we’re headed south to visit a white brick cottage newly constructed by Willow Design and photographed by Tommy Daspit. This home proves a new house doesn’t have to be cookie cutter.

Wood posts are added as a frame to the front porch to provide texture and interest.

While the exterior brick is painted white, the builder used unpainted brick to emphasize certain features.

Inside, the brick is repeated in the living room’s fireplace surround. Shiplap is added to accentuate the fireplace with a simple wooden beam used for a mantel.

More evidence of quality detail in a new construction home can be seen by the use of paneled wood doors and detailed trim throughout the white brick cottage.

Crossback chairs in the dining room add farmhouse appeal while an antique bronze chandelier lends a touch of elegance.

A kitchen wall is lined with the same brick as seen on the exterior of the cottage. I like how the builder created an air of cohesiveness by replicating design features both inside and out.

The charming home even enjoys a beautiful sun room with an amazing vaulted wood ceiling where the heat of the south can rise to keep temperatures cooler for folks enjoying the breeze from the ceiling fan.

  1. OMG, I truly believe my mind was read and this house was built for me. When can I take possession – and of course there should be no charge. It couldn’t fit my needs and my taste more. My favorite house tour EVER.

  2. Lots of different textures in this home, makes in interesting and cozy, i love the brick in different rooms and places.

  3. Is it possible to see the house plans for this home?! We adore it, and would love to see if we could build something like it for our growing family!

  4. Sweet home. Call me crazy but I would have liked the columns on the front porch to be done in brick also. I love the use of brick throughout this home.

  5. This house is just adorable. So pretty looking yet comfortable and functional. Everything you need. Only thing I might change is the brick right behind the stove. Unless you don’t cook at all, I would think that brick would need to be protected. Otherwise, over the years, it won’t look like the rest of the brick.

  6. Lovely home. Applause to the builder for showing what can be done with a new build. I really like the fireplace and panelled doors.
