Wiltshire English Country Home Decorated for Christmas

Christmas, home tour December 20, 2021

The Christmas week is upon us, friends, and I wish you peace and contentment in the days ahead. No one’s holiday is perfect, but we can still find joy and appreciation in the small things. Like a child’s smile when opening a gift or the comfort of a warm blanket on a frosty night. And today, you can grab a cup of coffee or cocoa and enjoy this pretty Wiltshire English country home by Susie Watson Designs decorated for Christmas.

The warmth of English country style draws you in like a big comforting hug. A fancy fireplace, above, with intricate, carved scrollwork is the centerpiece of a living room. A beautiful polka dot chair adds a fresh touch to classic patterns like a Turkish wool rug and plaid throw over the end of a tufted sofa. Holly ivy framing the doorway reminds me of my favorite holiday song, The Holly and the Ivy.

The wallpapered drawing room also features an amazing fireplace and warm cozy appeal with a mix of pleasing patterns often seen in an English country home. A couple of Santa’s sacks filled with presents flank the fire.

A mix of patterns can still feel cohesive when used in the same color palette. Pretty pillows and throws enjoy a green and berry color combination in this Wiltshire home. It’s located in the same area as Stonehenge in picturesque southwest England.

The home’s Christmas dining room features a mix of striped and polka dot candles in the chandelier wrapped in holly ivy. English plates line the shelves of the hutch and appear in the place settings at the table. A beautiful Christmas tree is tucked in the corner and adds the special twinkle of lights.

A festive “Happy Christmas” banner is draped at the far end of the dining room. The chairs are Scandinavian in design but blend well with English style.

I love this sweet bedroom with its embroidered headboard and footboard. Even the dog bed is cute! Soft gray and white wallpaper is a similar hue, although different pattern, than the floor rug. More holly ivy is seen along with another Santa sack.

Another view of the Christmas bedroom reveals painted floors and the same striped candlesticks as seen in the dining room chandelier. Repeating patterns and items in rooms throughout the house is a great way to unify the decorating scheme.

A custom, fabric advent calendar adorns an interior door of the pretty English country home.

Outside, a magical scene is created for al fresco dining in the snow, with woolen blankets waiting to be used in a wooden crate.

      Hi Lori,

Maybe if it was a warmer winter day it wouldn’t be too bad.  Have a Merry Christmas!

I love the green wallpaper in the drawing room…and wouldn’t it be fun to be able to quickly set up an al fresco dining scene like the one in the final photo! Happy holidays!

The house reminds me of one you’d see in a Charles Dickens novel at Christmas. Enjoy your Christmas holiday, Marlene!

What a beautiful home dressed for Christmas! Love it, but wouldn’t be eating outdoors in the snow!! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Hi Christine! The snowy outdoor scene is pretty but maybe not so practical. LOL. Have a Merry Christmas!

So much to love…starting with the cute dog beds and the dog wearing torn edge ribbons. Those fireplace mantels. I need two. All the mixed fabrics and patterns. Safe to say this home has captured Hygge. (I’m reading an amusing book named ‘The year of living Danishly’ ) I think the Advent calendar was made by a resident…the dogs seem the same. So cute. Once, while sitting under the dryer at the hair salon, I was conversing with a woman who had moved here from England. She confessed that she found most American homes unattractive. Sometimes I can see her point.

Hi Jillian!  I had to look up that book – it sounds like a good read. I have to agree with the woman at the hair salon. Most of the new houses here look the same and are made cheaply unless they’re expensive, custom homes. English homes have more character. Hope your Christmas is merry and peaceful!

So beautiful! I love this style, some formality, yet so warm. How I would love this home. This and another recent English Country home you featured. Have a very Merry Christmas!

Hi Debra! There’s just something about English country homes. Maybe it’s their age but they seem to have a lot of soul and character. Glad you enjoyed the tour! Merry Christmas!

This is beautiful but coming from the UK and having been recently to one of Susi Watson shops I can also confirm it is also ridiculously expensive, take the ideas girls and create your own special home. I don’t want to sound like a Scrooge at Christmas, but let us all count our blessings and be thankful for the amazing perfectly comfy safe and secure homes we have put together for our families.
Merry Christmas and a Healthy Safe New Year

Hi Kym! How nice to live in the U.K. Someday after all this Covid mess is over I plan to visit. My son has been to London but I’d prefer to explore the countryside. How nice to visit one of Susie Watson’s shops, even if it is expensive. Like you said, you can get ideas and do something similar. Have a Merry Christmas!
