The seat above is brightly painted with colorful pillows to match. The addition of drawers creates an ideal spot for extra storage in the home. Mom can sit here with a magazine and watch her kids playing outside in the backyard.

A beautifully arched window is a crowning statement in this cozy alcove that affords the convenience of a built-in bookcase. You can’t help but feel a little glamorous lounging under this grand window.

Rich, wood trim creates a cozy nook that feels like a big old hug while relaxing on the window seat. You could just sit here and daydream while gazing outside at the trees and watching the birds. Leave a window slightly ajar to enjoy the fresh scent of nature to enhance the experience. This little nook is so inviting.

An all-white alcove is flanked by a pair of bookcases and overhead reading lights. Drawers underneath the seat provide a space for extra pillows and blankets. Lighter colors create a fresh decor.

Even the family dog has a hard time resisting the urge to enjoy a built-in seat. It’s a convenient spot for humans to put on their shoes (or take them off) in the mud room.

This particular seat is deeper than most for extra comfort with a thicker mattress pad on top. I like smaller rooms for sleeping so this little nook is right up my alley for catching nightly zzzz’s.

A smaller window seat creates a place to sit and put on your pants or shoes if your flexibility makes it difficult to bend over. Narrow drawers underneath are a great place to keep your socks or slippers.

  1. Love them! We have a window seat in our guest bedroom. Probably one of the main reasons that we bought this house. A window seat had always been one of my heart’s desires. The Lord always gives us what we need and more than we realize, what we don’t need but desire. He’s so sweet llike that.

  2. This has me thinking of what I can do in our bedroom and our office area. Creating the alcove for seating and bookcases…hmmmm..great idea! Love the wood surrounding that warm spot with plants. The kids room nook is too cute!
