Zevy Joy | Thanksgiving Table Setting with Magnolia Centerpiece

Annie’s centerpiece reminds me of the time I found a bounty of fallen magnolia leaves while vacationing down south. I gingerly packed several in my suitcase to decorate my home with. Annie’s arrangement is so pretty!

Southern Hospitality | Fall in Newport RI

I like to live vicariously through Rhoda who has traveled to many places that are on my bucket list. I’ve been to Rhode Island once as a kid and hope to go back as an adult. For now, I’ll simply enjoy her photos and memories from her trip to Newport.

  1. I made this comment on Rhoda’s blog but wanted to share it with you, Jen!

I was able to spend a week in Newport at the War College in the Spring of 2005. My friendโ€™s husband was there for training to be sent to command troops in Iraq. It just happened to be the week of the annual Oyster and Chowder Festival. WHAT FUN! The War College is one of the most amazing places that I have ever been and filled with the most interesting and wonderful people who serve our nation. The most amazing thing to me was how when I arrived these โ€œlittle plantsโ€ were just beginning to peak up out of the ground. By the time I left, these HOSTAS were a little mound of beautiful foliage. I fell in love with hostas on that trip! I was also AMAZED at how beautiful irises grew everywhere as wild flowers! Just like the phlox do in the Spring here in Marion County, FL.
Because my friends had lived here almost a year, she knew all the great historical places to visit and all the โ€œback storiesโ€ behind them, like the precious โ€œGodโ€™s Little Acreโ€ in the oldest cemetery. We had so much fun searching for sea glass on the beach at the War College, traipsing through the antique shops and historical sites that we never even got to the โ€œgrander touristingโ€ of visiting the mansions on Millionaires Row! To top the week off, on Saturday, the War College had special boats that took folks across the bay to the Seafood Festival for the day. 20+ years later, Hubby and I plan to go to New England next Spring. It will be his first time to Newport and I look forward to rehashing wonderful memories.
