Did I ever tell you the story of how a simple clawfoot tub inspired me to purchase a house? About 16 years ago when I was a single mom with 3 kids, I decided to check out an old farmhouse for sale that was featured in a local newspaper. I really wasn’t in a position to purchase a house, but a girl can dream. It was a cute house but I kept thinking it was out of my reach. But then the realtor opened the door to the farmhouse style bathroom with its cute clawfoot tub and I had to have it! One thing led to another and that house became mine, because that house had not one, but two clawfoot tubs! We’re getting ready to redecorate our upstairs bathroom so I took a look at Houzz for inspiration.
One of the great things about clawfoot tubs is you can paint them.
I just adore the color of this bathtub! It looks great with the beadboard and wood floors. Our clawfoot tub on the second floor has a circular shower rod similar to this one, but it needs to be replaced.
Our first floor bathroom has a shelf next to the clawfoot tub like this one.
But the shelf is only on one wall. I like that this shelf wraps around the tub.
I may have to ask hubby to add more shelving around our downstairs tub.
Do you notice anything a little unusual about this farmhouse style bathroom?
The clawfoot tub is propped up on one end with a small wooden block!
I love the rustic ladder with the monogrammed towels.
Eclectic Bathroom in Red
Would you ever paint your bathtub red?
Or bathe in front of large windows without curtains?
You might if you drank that bottle of wine on the window sill!
If you’re gonna bathe in front of windows, you might as well bathe outside, too!
This actually looks kind of romantic. If you have a big private yard you could get away with it.
The soft blue in this farmhouse style bathroom is perfect for calming nerves.
I like that the trim is painted blue and the walls white, instead of the reverse.
I’m admiring the glass front cabinet in this beautiful bathroom.
Our upstairs bathroom just might have room for a cabinet like that.
Another beautiful farmhouse style bathroom.
I love the rusticity of the painted planked walls with the elegance of the lace valances.
I don’t know what it is about wood and white that makes my heart beat faster.
This looks like my dream house!
I’m anxious to get started on our upstairs bathroom and these photos have given me plenty of inspiration. Do you like farmhouse style bathrooms too, or do you prefer a more modern bath in your home?
