Discover Coastal Quilts, a Rustic Cabin, and More: Friday Finds

Happy Friday, Friends! I’m back from our vacation to Maine and have to say it’s one of the best places I’ve ever visited (even better than Hawaii). If you live there – you’re so lucky! I took lots of photos of historic homes in Kennebunkport and the surrounding areas and will share some of them tomorrow. So much eye candy in Maine when it comes to architecture and history. But for now, let’s check out this week’s finds.

While we were vacationing in Maine, we took a day trip to New Hampshire where my hubby went to high school. He took me to the White Mountains and it’s simply breathtaking. So I feel it’s only appropriate to feature this rustic midcentury cabin located in New Hampshire. The décor is unique and the views are amazing!

If you visit my blog regularly, you know that I have a pond in my backyard. Did you know you can create a mini pond to enjoy without digging a hole? I have a mini pond, aka container water garden, on my deck next to the pond. Here’s a container water garden article that gives examples of different ones you can create.

In the first home I owned, I had a collection of straw hats hanging on my bedroom wall. I loved that look and think it’s time to recreate it for my current bedroom. I stumbled across a post from Emily Clark that shows how to display straw hats and bags for inexpensive home décor.

Lately I’ve been giving my yard and gardens a critical eye. I feel like it’s getting a bit sloppy because I always want one of everything I see at the garden center. So I bring the flowers home and find a place to plant them, with no true plan in mind. But now I’m seeing how moving things around could create some cohesion (although I do like messy flower gardens like the old-fashioned English type). If you need help like me, check out this article about how to pull the yard together.

Earlier today I visited the farm market down the highway from our house and it got me thinking about when I’m going to can tomatoes and freeze sweet corn. Now is a great time to get started as harvest season is beginning. It’s worth taking a couple of hours on a weekend to preserve the flavors of summer.

My last find for today, is this charming collection of fish-themed kantha quilts. Any of them would be perfect for a coastal, cottage, or country style home. Their light weight makes them great for summer, or any time of year. I think I need one of them in my life. They’re not as expensive as some kantha quilts I’ve seen, so this find is truly a treasure!

Enjoy your weekend, and stay cool out there!
