Simple Farmhouse Porch

Welcome to another edition of Farmhouse Friday! Today my fellow farmhouse bloggers and I are sharing our farmhouse porches. This year I’ve made the decision to keep my summer porch simple. In fact, I’m going to simplify the inside of my house too and will be having a yard sale later in August. But for now, here’s a peek at my farmhouse porch. Links to the other porches are at the end of the post.

Farmhouse PorchMy farmhouse porch isn’t very big, but I like that it’s cozy.

Besides, the bigger the porch, the more furniture you have to buy.

Farmhouse PorchA simple white folding chair and a cute bicycle pillow by Jennifer Rizzo Design create a charming place to sit and watch the world go by.

Farmhouse PorchI still have my porch swing on the other side. It’s loaded up with big soft pillows in shades of blue and aqua, to match the trim work on the exterior of my home.

White Folding Chair with Bicycle PillowI often sit out here in the morning and enjoy a morning cup of coffee.  A basket of books hangs on the door waiting to be read. I didn’t want to do the typical wreath this year, so just a simple basket adorns my door.

Basket of Books on the Front DoorI love to sit on my farmhouse porch and read during the summer.

I just finished John Grisham’s latest novel, Gray Mountain.

Hydrangeas in White Ironstone make a simple summer bouquetEvery farmhouse porch needs a bouquet of fresh flowers from the garden.

Luckily, my white hydrangeas are in full bloom!

Simple Summer Bouquet. Hydrangeas in Blue Atlas JarI tucked a few in a blue Atlas jar and hung them by the front door.

Farmhouse PorchMy flower boxes are still filling in. We’ve had so much rain and little sunshine but in a couple weeks they should be overflowing.  At least, I hope sunshine is on the way!

  1. Jennifer, you home is breathtaking and so full of character and CHARM!!! What a darling little porch. I love the colors. No wonder you like to read there. I adore the idea of the basket of books on the door. How clever! As always it’s so fun being a part of farmhouse friday with you!

  2. Every single time I see your porch it makes me smile. So fresh and pretty and happy! Ans that blue scroll work is absolutely adorable. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. It’s raining cats and dogs over here right now!

  3. You have such a cozy front porch, perfect sitting area for drinking coffee, visiting with a friend and reading a good book. I love the idea of the basket on the front door with books.! The pillow is just too cute for words. I checked my hydrangeas last night and still no blooms, with all the rains we’ve had here, with yet another major storm last night, you would think they would be full to over flowing. Have a super w/k. fondly ~ lynne~

  4. Love!!!!! Swooning over your porch. I seriously am coming to lounge out there. Don’t be surprised if you see me out there watching the world go by someday!!! Love the bike pillow how cute is that! Happy Friday Jennifer. Have a good week end.

  5. Absolutely charming . . . what a delight it must be sitting there with a glass of sun tea and watching the day go slowly by:)
Your garage sale is one that I would love to attend:)

  6. Beautiful! Especially adoring your window boxes…and the cheerful colors of your house! I’m also wanting to simplify so any tips or help you can give will be wonderful!

  7. I especially love the basket of books on your door. I’ll going to try to think of a way to do something similar. The only door that I have that has a covered porch has patio doors, so I can’t hang one there. Perhaps on the inside door to my sun porch. I love your blog!
