Cottage Style, Pretty Home Tours + a Vintage Bathroom: Friday Finds
Some of you have mentioned you enjoy the lighter, springtime decorating I’ve been featuring on the blog the past couple of weeks. I’m always open to suggestions on what you’d like to see or learn more about when it comes to decorating, gardening, and home exteriors. Those are three of my favorite topics and my magazine choices over the past couple of decades proves that to be true.
Would you believe I have magazines that are 20 years old? It’s the one thing I hoard, but thankfully they don’t take up too much space and I don’t save them all. Just my favorites. I do wish I had kept my first issue of Country Living magazine because it featured the most charming cottage that housed a collection of majolica pottery, along with straw hats used as wall decor. It’s those little details that make a house a home. And on today’s Friday Finds, you’ll find plenty of details in the house tours and featured rooms.

This is fun, I just love cottage style! I also have all of my old Country Living magazines, I can’t bear to part with them! I actually still look through them from time to time. They (and your blog too) make me feel at home, like I have found ‘my people’.

I have piles of Cottage&Bungalow mags, some American Farmhouse, but loving those less and less. Everything went to major huge makeovers, many $$$ tear it all down, etc and make it all white, for a while. Totally unrealistic and just not pretty, for the vast majority of us.
Yes, I am really enjoying all your fresh, inspiring Spring posts! That little “farmhouse” was especially pretty. I love to see simple, inexpensive renovations that totally transform a home. (Instead of tearing everything down and spending thousands or more.) Keep ’em coming, please!
My second comment, about your Friday Finds. Finally, gardening ideas for upstate/central NY. Thanks so much! It is becoming more difficult to find plants of any kind that are native, friendly, at the big box stores, and sadly, the small locally owned garden centers are disappearing.

Love that you save your favorite magazines. I keep a stash of my favorites as well. Traditional Home ( wish it were published more often as it was previously), The English Home, & all of my favorite Christmas issues from a variety of sources.
I am sooo inspired by that garden! Since our home will be in fire remediation for the next 2 months, I am really looking forward to being able to focus on our backyard! Have a really restful and inspiring time in DC 😇
That first cottage is so cute. I really still like the cottage style. This cottage is so cheery without being too much so. Those gardens are absolutely beautiful. Beautiful property.
