Gingerbread, Cabins, and Flowers: Friday Finds #77

Next week my family and I head to Galena, Illinois for our annual Christmas trip. We always rent the same house and enjoy its familiarity. We all have our designated bedrooms and each morning starts with a fire in the fireplace and a round of lattes and cappuccinos. It’s so nice to chill and spend time together. We cook meals together and the kids love playing in the big house with its toys and games. There’s also the pool, basketball court, and spa at the Galena center. It’s perfect for a holiday getaway.

Today I’ve got a new round of Friday Finds that include some last-minute Christmas things along with some other inspiration.

I found a cozy collection of cabin getaways from across the country that are all worthy of a weekend getaway. I may just have to find a cabin in the dead of winter to curl up in and get some reading or writing done.

If you’re still decorating your home for the holidays, you might enjoy these Christmas kitchen decorations from Country Living magazine. There are plenty of ideas to go around!

Did you get any poinsettias this year? You can keep them growing until next year’s Christmas if you follow my tips on how to care for poinsettias. I’ve still got my poinsettia topiary from last year going strong.

This weekend I’ll be wrapping presents for our family trip and I think I’m going to make these gingerbread ornaments to put on all the gifts.

This charming cottage in New Suffolk, New York, is sure to put a smile on your face. I’m especially drawn to the wallpaper in the dining nook.

How about a little dreaming? Check out the Greydon House in Nantucket and dream of a future trip staying at this beautiful hotel that doesn’t feel like a hotel. You can learn more about it here.

I hope that my weekly Friday Finds series gives you time to daydream and explore, and helps you forget, for a brief period of time, about any worries or stress you might have!
