Cozy Backyard Reading Retreat That Looks Like a Tiny House
Omigoodness – I’m excited to share this amazing backyard reading retreat with all of you today! Avid readers and nature lovers alike are sure to fall in love with Board & Vellum‘s tiny refuge to escape the stress of the world. It’s functional, eco-friendly, and tastefully done. Photo by Board & VellumThe small but impressive retreat is located in a private, fenced corner of the yard next to a large patio with a hot tub and firepit conversation area. Other than a kitchen, it has everything needed to qualify it as a tiny house.
Lots of tall windows and skylights make it feel like you’re outdoors with the trees even though you’re sheltered from the elements. Lighting creates the opportunity to enjoy the reading retreat during the day or nighttime hours.
Photo by Board & VellumInside the reading retreat, you’ll find more than one spot to enjoy a good book. Choose from a Mid-century modern chair with ottoman or the window seat tucked in between bookcases on the first level. You can also climb the ladder to the cozy loft.
Photo by Board & VellumYou can also use the loft to grab a quick nap. I’d probably end up spending the night out here. With the skylight directly above the bed, it would feel like you’re sleeping under the stars – but without the bugs to bother you.

Photo by Board & VellumThere’s no need to head to the main house if you need to use the rest room. Look – it even has a shower! So if you get mad at hubby or he gets mad at you – you’ve got the perfect doghouse!
