Fruit and Honey Breakfast Crostini

Good Morning World!  At this very moment somewhere in the world, someone is waking up to face their day. Normally I don’t get too excited about breakfast food because I’m not a big egg, pancake, or waffle eater. And since I don’t eat meat … no bacon for me! But the other day I was introduced to Smucker’s Fruit and Honey and decided to make Fruit and Honey Breakfast Crostini with two flavors of the fruity spread.

Fruit and Honey Breakfast CrostiniI was inspired by a Fruit and Honey brunch toast recipe I found on Smucker’s website. I tweaked it a bit making it even simpler than it already was (in the near future I will try the original recipe).

Smucker's Fruit and HoneyWhen I shopped the aisles of Walmart, I spied the fruity goodness on the shelf and had a hard time deciding which flavor to try. My indecisiveness led to the purchase of two flavors; Tropical and Blueberry Lemon.

Smucker's Fruit and HoneyAt the store I also grabbed a skinny loaf of French bread and a small carton of whipped cream cheese. I was good to go!

Fruit and Honey Breakfast CrostiniMaking Fruit and Honey Breakfast Crostini is quick and easy. Slice your loaf of French bread into 1/2 inch uniform slices. Place under the broiler and when the bread just starts to turn golden, flip the pieces over and broil the other sides. Do not overcook!  You want your bread slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Fruit and Honey Breakfast CrostiniSpread a layer of whipped cream cheese on the tiny toasts, and then spread a sweet layer of delectable Fruit and Honey spread on top. Garnish with a sprig of your favorite herb. I used oregano from our garden. Basil or mint would be good too.

Fruit and Honey Breakfast CrostiniMmm.  Hubby and I both loved this quick and easy breakfast recipe!  It’s actually good enough to eat any time of day. The fruit spread is naturally sweetened with honey.

Fruit and Honey Breakfast CrostiniHubby’s going to try adding the tropical flavored Fruit and Honey spread to his next batch of chicken wings. He’ll add a little heat to the marinade, too. And I’m thinking of making some type of ice cream sauce with the blueberry lemon flavored spread.
