Simple Summer Table Setting
When you think of entertaining during the summer months, do you opt for bright energizing colors or the soothing hues of a blue ocean? For this year’s first simple summer table setting, I chose earthy tones that remind me of the green grass and the wonderful outdoors that I love so much.
I created this simple summer table setting for the summer edition of Styled + Set, hosted by Lory at Designthusiasm. If you’re coming from Sheila’s place at Maison de Cinq (the first person on today’s tour), I wish you a warm welcome! My centerpiece is fuss-free with pretty vases in shades of grass and blue skies. Branches and ferns lend a touch of organic appeal.
Embossed green plates are melamine – I like the casual appeal of melamine during the summer season. Faux ferns and creaming berries are tucked inside a grapevine napkin ring.
Woven chargers and a table runner add earthy texture to this simple summer table setting.
This past year I’ve slowly been changing my decor, with an emphasis on icons in our area like farm animals, plants, field flowers or a single feather from a wild goose tucked in a vase.
Next to the simple summer table setting is the console table decorated with creamy faux flowers, branches, and opaque apple green vases.
I found these beautiful green vases at HomeGoods. And I fell in love with this little piece of pottery with its apple green interior.
My rabbit lamp is still on the console table in the dining room and is kept company with a couple more of my simple green pottery vases.
A simple summer table setting creates a fresh look in the dining room – ready for entertaining.

Would love to know where you found the green melamine plates….I am a “green” girl, and love your plates. …and your blog! Thank you for sharing your home….lovely
Hi Alda! I found them at HomeGoods. They had a variety of colors and patterns available.
I’m not a big tablescape person, but yours are always so charming and created for real-world use and appreciation. The current designs in melamine tableware are amazing. I’m old enough to recall when melamine was only shiny milky white with a small blue floral border.
I’m loving green a lot this year – maybe because I yearned so long for Spring to come. My kitchen got a new coat of grayish-green paint recently and the rest of the house is begging for green accents in other rooms also.
As usual, your home looks so welcoming.
Thanks, Pat! Your kitchen sounds lovely! Isn’t it fun to re-do a room (especially after the hard work is done)? I’m loving most of the melamine dishes I’m seeing this year – and I love their practicality, too. I’m with you on the green colors – I’ve been adding more shades of it to my rooms. I’ve been yearning to get outside with nature. Since I had to wait, there’s an abundance of houseplants in my home now!
Jennifer, I absolutely love this table! I don’t know if you know, but green is my absolute favorite color so this tablescape is really speaking my language!
I love those adorable melamine plates, and all the textures are a wonderful addition. The greens look so good with the rattan and the runner!
So glad to be joining you on this blog tour!

Thanks, Sheila! No, I didn’t know green is your favorite color. You’ll be seeing more of it in my house next week. 😉
Love your table scape, it is my favorite of all the ones you showed today. It has such a fresh look besides being simple.
Thank you, Brenda!! That’s so sweet of you to say!
You are very good at what you do, i love your table setting.
Aw, thanks Marlene!!
A lovely table as always. I never would have guessed the green dishes were melamine. Pretty color and vases

Thanks, Cindy! Manufacturers seem to be upping their game with melamine dishes. I found several pretty ones. I prefer them for casual dining, no matter what time of year it is. 🙂
